Hibore and Optimum Driver Spin

I have a 9.5 degree Hibore I just bought it with a stock Stiff shaft. My launch angle is right around the 15 degree angle witch I'm happy with. What I'm wondering is what is the optimum Rate of spin? I was up around 4000 and as high as 4700. I planned on getting a after market shaft to begin with so its not a big issue with me. Can anyone suggest a shaft that might be a good fit. I have an aver age swing tempo and a swing speed of around 100. The two that I have been looking at are the Grafalloy Pro Launch and the Grafalloy Comp Nt.

Hi I got my Hibore 9.5 degree with Graphite Design PM 702X, total length 44.5inch, it performs great! Ball flights straight, powerful and less spin. My swing speed is from 98mph~105mph, with launch monitor it carries about 225yards to 235yards but rolls over 20 yards. It's excellent shaft performance with strong feeling. It should work for you.

Look into the V2 and the Grafalloy Blue Comp NT. Both GREAT shaft options with the HiBore!

100mph SS and 4000-4700 rpm is outrageous, that would be considered a moon ball. Your launch angle isn't terrible, but that spin needs to come down some.

That chart is good, i have an average ball speed around 147 and im not sure what my launch angle is but im going to have to get it checked. Im getting my Hi bore with a diamana becuase the hi bore i hit with an aldila was going very high. I too carry a high spin rate.normally its 4000

Just picked up a 10.5 Hibore with NV 65S. With it, my numbers were averaging around 13-14 launch angle and 3400-3600 RPM (ball speed: 140-150).

Per a guy I know at Cleveland the hot shaft by testing has been the NVS not the NV. I was suprised but he says they have had a ton of orders for the Hi Bore with the NVS since this data got out. It isn't a common demo shaft so many couldn't try it.

If you spin rates are up that high you need a very firm tip shaft.

two suggestions would be the aldila protopype, graffloy blue, or the graffloy prolite. You want your spin around 2300. It seems like a lot to take it down, but it will drastically improve your control and and some length..

The chart is a little outdated as far as spin rates go. Esp. witha hibore. It will help you spin it less, but if you hit a really soft golf ball (nike platinum, or similar) and don't have a firmer tip shaft your not setting yourself for a good combination

An ideal point with todays drivers at 140-150 mph ball speed is right around 14º launch with 2500 spin.

Thanks for the tips so far guys... Do you think that Shaft Length might have something to do with it as well??? Its a stock 46" I've often wondered what difference it would make if I nocked a half inch or an inch off of it, would it take lots of yardage off my drives? I'm more concerened about length my accuracy is pretty decent.

The stock shaft isn't very tip stiff I agree.. That is why I'm leaning towards the Grafalloy Prolaunch or Grafalloy Comp NT. Now my question is the Hibore is designed for a high boreing launch. So should I stick with the Low Kick Point ProLaunch or go for the Mid kick point Grafalloy comp?

Damm that is some serious spin.

My spin rate was 3200 on the launch monitor and it was suggested to me to use the stock Fuji shaft.

You should try out a V2 on the launch monitor. It's got a stiffer tip than the Fuji shaft you have in.

I dont mean to thread-jack this or anything, but my spin rate is around a 3800-4000, my ball speed is in the high 140's to low 150's. i tried the 9.5 hi bore with the stock aldila NV in it and it was seeming to balloon on me, would a 9.5 with a diamana work out better or should i try a 8.5 with a diamana? I was thinking the 9.5 would be better because of the stiff tip, but i was ust wondering what some of you think.

(sorry eesh, really did not want to use this for my gain, but it seemed like a waste to create the same topic for me. if you dont wnat this in your thread ill remove it)
