HELP ME!
ATTENTION: S. Cameron collectors.........just a quickie here.......

are "off-the-rack", if there's such a thing for cameron putters, considered a collector's piece? (off-the-rack meaning i can go into like golfsmith/golf galaxy and purchase them)

within the current s.cameron putter line-up.....do any cameron collectors think any of them will be a sought out and rare piece years from now.......?

take for example this situation:

right now, theres a s.cameron circa 62 no. 3 (i beleive) at the local pro shop.....and if i were to purchase this putter and keet it in mint condition and not even put it out to play.......would this putter be worth anything more than what i paid for say 2 years from the date i purchase it? 3 years? 5 years? etc?

what do fellow cameron collector consider a putter from s.cameron a collector?

holla back and sorry for all the q's? i would like to start colellecting a few so i would like to know a little about collecting before i make my purchase!

holla!

production putters won't really gain value because there are so many of them, and because there are alot of collectors which means alot more will survive in mint condition.

Older production models can be worth alot, but that's because they were made in smaller quantities, and weren't collected as much when they would ahve been in 'mint shape' so fewer high quality originals exist.

I wouldn't purchase a Circa 62 w/ hopes of selling it for extra $$ in 2 years. It would be like buying a Newport 2 ... the value will cut in half if yo utry to sell.

You're better of getting a club membership and trying to pick off the limited editions (my girls, holidays, various headcovers, and the super $$ makers : the staff bags) ... they ahve instant resale profit margins usually over 100%.

so what you're saying basically is that a "retail" version of a s.cameron putter won't gain any value if kept unused and in mint condition? so if i do purchase a retail putter..........better use it cause i'll be throwing $300 out the window if i don't get the greatest use out of it? thanks for the info homes!

I'd say so ... you might get lucky on a specific model gaining value, but with cameron collecting being so popular these days, it's pretty much guarunteed that there will be piles of mint condition production putters available.

The only new ones that really gain value ore the 1st of 500 pre runs of the production putters ... also, sales promos of production putters.

Collecting Cameron putters should not be done as an investment. Lots of "better" places to put your money. If you are starting to get into Cameron collecting, then got to Bill Vogeney site: vogeygolf.com. You can search ebay and the BSTs and start building your collection for what you would pay for a current retail putter. Cameron retail putters by far, retain more value than any other retail putter. You can find retail cameron putters from $199-$229 depending upon where you shop. On ebay, you still see most older production Cameron going for around $100-$120.

There are quite a few retail putters that have gone up in value. A great example would be the 95 Napa's.
