Ready to go with X-Tours...but this bounce feedback has me worried...

Is this just a Cally hater campaign. I dont think I buy it...

It kinda seems like all this "bounce on tight, dry fairways" is a Callaway haters campaign against a quality iron. I have played Mizuno for years, but I am not a die hard Mizuno guy who will come up with eroneous issues with another brand of club that is also enjoying some success.

Can someone give me the straight, UNBIAS opinion about the X-Tours (especially relating to the bounce question).

very good irons but i believe there is a bounce issue - try chipping a 8 or 9 iron off a tight lie and there is a thin more times than not - poss more practise with this type of shot would improve the situation.

full shots off tight fairways you need to concentrate and ensure ball then divot - powerful club /good feeback off well struck shots =suggest you borrow a set and make your own judgement !!! :)

I've just switched from titleist 990's to the x-tours and only played 3 full rounds so far. I feel that i now have a more forgiving iron now without giving up feel & feedback, that's exactly what i wanted. Granted i have hit quite a few short chips around the green thin, but it's just a matter of getting used to new irons.

As grumpy123golf says give them a try, don't worry what others say.

I don't have a problem with the X-Tours from any situation. They are great irons. But I agree with the others that you need to try them and make up your own mind.

On a cosmetic note, has anyone else had the medalliions fall off? This may have only been an issue early on

If the medallion falls off they actually recommend sending back to callaway to to get the weight right again.. apparently there are about 12 different weight medallions and as the club is near finished is goes onto a machine and it tells the worker which medallion should go on to match up with the rest of the set. but if you don't want to do that callaway would send you a new one

I had one medallion fall off and another one get loose. Fortunately I found the one that fell off, and removed the loose one, then epoxied both back in. No problems since. I have one of the first sets made, so I would be shocked if Cally hadn;t fixed this problem long ago.

There are no Cally Hater campaigns conducted here. It's ridiculous to even ask.

 

There are plenty of other threads discussing experiences with X-Tours and suffice to say no iron has a general bounce issue for all golfers including X-Tours; however, it is a real issue with some golfers under some conditions. You may or may not fall into that category, try them for yourself.
