Picked up a Hibore with an AXIS 75x...Now it feels "heavy in the hands" to me with little weight in the head...Will putting a lighter (65/55 gram) shaft in it make the head feel a little heavier, or more feel?

It will reduce the overall club weight . . . and it will make the swingweight increase, giving you more feel of where the head is in the swing. If you want less feel of the clubhead, add weight under the grip. Reducing the overall weight of the club will also increase your swing speed a bit. Less weight= you can swing it faster.

Feel is very subjective. Logically, what was proposed should work but it doesn't necessarily. Much of what is related to head feel is tip flexure rather than swingweight....the two work together to give you that feel of a smooth kick through impact. So part of the issue might be that the shaft is too stiff overall or too stiff in the tip. Typically lighter shafts are higher in torque and alittle softer overall than their brethren.

 

I do use buttweighting on all my woods.....swingweight is low C's or something but I have no issues with headfeel. The closer you get to the head, the more extra weight will impact the feel. Lighter shafts will usually drop the swingweight but not if the balance point is lower in relation to your previous shaft.

i thinkg i uderstand, I just feel that all the weight is under my hands, not in the head...shaft does feel smooth, but i would like more weight in the head...again will a lighter shaft do so?

Yeah it will. The biggest variable in total club weight is shaft weight. Have your clubmaker weigh your driver head after he pulls the Axiv. If it's around 200, have him bump it....usually I like to get it around 204-206g. The lighter the overall weight, the higher you can go with swingweight. D5 at 355g (no buttplug) vs D5 at 315g will feel very different. Bump the headweight and drop 10g off shaft weight....should be enough. Just a guess.
