2010 Ogio Ozone weight

Is the 2010 heavier than the 2009?
So I've been shopping around for a new carry bag and have pretty much decided on the Ogio Ozone. However, I noticed on TGW that the 2009 version weight is listed at 4.2 lbs and the 2010 is 6.7 lbs. Is this correct or a typo? Ogio's site doesn't have the weight for the 2010 version listed.

I've looked at both bags at Golfsmith and they seemed about the same weight...and the 2010 bag seemed basically the same as the 2009, except for different colors and the crossbow strap.

I'd rather get an 2010 in black plaid or ladipus, but if the 2009 really is 2.5 lbs lighter in addition to being about $50 cheaper, I could live with all black since that's what seems to be available.

BTW, does anyone have opinions on how well the crossbow strap works?

I doubt there is much if any difference in weight. I think the 2010 is probably being listed with it's true weight (bag + straps). A lot of manufacturers don't count the weight of the straps when talking about a bag's weight, which is a bit misleading ...

bazinky, you're probably right...so the real question is how much the 2009 version weighs including the straps.

I emailed the Ogio customer service...and they just got back to me and said:

"The 2010 Ozone bag weighs 6lbs. It is probably slightly heavier that the 2009 version."

So it looks like I'm going to have to figure this out the old fashioned way...and go back to Golfsmith and compare them again.

I'd be shocked if there is much difference. The Ozone is one of the better regarded bags in Ogio's line-up, and I wouldn't expect a major redesign. I just bought a 2010 Grom, and the only real difference I saw with the 2009 was that the 2010 had a better leg tip design. I was able to get the 2010 for almost the same price as the 2009, otherwise I would have bought the 2009. I personally didn't think there was enough difference to warrant the extra money.

I bought a 2010 Ozone and when I was doing my 2 weeks of "research" online and in the shops, it was comparable in weight to the Sun Mountain Four 5, I couldn't really tell one was heavier than the other. Same deal with all the other similarlly weighted bags.

I just ordered a '10 Ozone from TGW today (well, yesterday since it's after midnight in Texas). I noticed the weight difference on the tgw site as well. The bag seems identical to the 09 model except for the new colors, a different zipper on the top valuables pocket, a magnetic closure on the scorecard pocket above the water bottle sleeve, and the carry strap system is a little different with a pivoting round "buckle" that you can press and detach to swing the dual shoulder straps to one side. The straps also connect to balance points on the bag that are in slightly different locations compared to the '09.

I went with the '10 because of the magnetic scorecard pocket closure. I'll be using my cell phone for on course GPS, and that pocket is perfect for it...easy in / out access while walking with little or zero risk of my phone falling out of the pocket.

I would have bought it at a local shop but they didn't have the Charcoal Stealth color. If you would have told me any other year that I would be buying a stealth bag I'd never believe you, but that scheme grew on me overnight. In this case, less is more.

This bag is replacing a Titleist / Sun Mountain that I really like but I'm fed up with trying to fit it into a cart on those occasions that I ride with a friend.

I noticed, in person, that the leg extension activator on the bottom of the '10 Grom bag is completely different from the '09 Grom, whereas the '10 Ozone has the same activator as both the 09 Ozone and '09 Grom.

I really like the new activator and considered getting the Grom solely because of it, but in the end I think the Ozone will be the better carry bag for me because of the slightly lighter weight and more importantly because of its smaller size seems to make it hang better on my shoulders.

I own the '09 Ozone and can tell you that it is not 4.2 lbs. I'd say it's more like 6 lbs. I also own the Vaporlite which is around 4 lbs. I much prefer the Ozone with the lift handle on the top, better legs and better retraction of legs in the stand mechanism. More storage pockets and other great little touches on the Ozone bag like the score card holder & pen holder. I bought the black one and love it.

Like I said, it's about 2lbs heavier than the Vaporlite but just as easy to carry and way better features. Highly recommend the Ozone. I checked the newer ones too and have to tell you, for the new differences, straps etc., get the '09 for $50 less and by something else with the $50 or use it for golf fees... IMO You won't regret buying this bag.

Good luck!
