A big decision that I want to get right, ust vs graphite design

Thanks in advance for trying to steer me in the right direction. I have a fairway wood, tour exotics that I need to reshaft because I find the stock fujikura light (68 grams) and throws the ball way to high. Looking to go heavier but not to heavy with a shaft that will keep the ball down a little but still has some kick to it. Was thinking of the v2 75 and the ys7 plus fairway shaft. I am currently playing the v2 65 in the driver and like it, and am currently playing the ys7 plus(not the fairway shaft) in an adams tour ovation and like it. Although the weights are similar between the v2 and the ys7 the torque ratings are quite different with the v2 at about 2.1 and the ys7 at 3.7. I tend to get get quick at the bottom and try to take the snap hook out of the bag. I know it is tough to recommend but feel free to go for it. Another shaft that seems to be in a lot of fairway woods know days is the nv75 shaft. Help me pull the trigger on the shaft please. Thanks

I don't see why more people don't play this shaft but I am absolutely in love with the Grafalloy Prototype NT comp. This shaft has all but eliminated my pull hook in my driver and I hit the fairway wood dead straight. I would recommend you try the 85 gram play it at 42 3/4" and watch how straight you hit the ball with it ;)

I have a quick tempo 119ish driver swingspeed with a miss to the left as well. Any club torques closed as opposed to open on the downswing(common myth) and the lower torque shaft would help you.

Sorry if i made the decision tougher but you might be able to score a pullout Grafalloy NT Comp Prototype for 30 off of ebay. Will lower the cost of experimenting.

v2 if u wanna eliminate the hook...i jus cant hook the thing..i got 75X in my 3wood n its got a STUNNING flight

Thanks for the advice, I have heard a lot of good things about this shaft and at 85 grams it might just be the right shaft for this head.

First of all, you can't really go wrong. Both are very good shafts and both appear to fit your swing, so don't sweat this too much ;)

Personally, I find the V2 a very well made shaft. I have only tried one V2, but it had virtually no spine. That's the mark of a very well made shaft, IMO.

If you have to pick between those two shafts you've mention, I would definitely pick V2 for better result that you are looking for.

May be even tip it a little extra than recommended if you have a quick agressive tempo if you have.

Thanks for the advice on the V2, do you think that the 75 v2 is heavy enough for a fairway wood shaft? I know there is an 85 gram v2 but the torque rating is really low and I don't know if I can get that shaft easily in Canada. Thanks

I can't tell you heavy enough or not, that is a personal questions.

My rule of thumb ( not always a must ) :

It should be ok:

1. If the shaft you've picked is heavier than your driver shaft.

2. You can pick even a heavier shaft if you think you need to really lower your trajectory, just tip it less if you are afraid it's going to be to stiff due to slower SS w/ heavier shaft.

3. Do you have a lot of room to improve on your game and do you eager and committed to be better? and what is your practise habit and discipline?

If your answer on all these questions are positive, then go for it and don't think about...just practise and get better!

Bare in mind that 86gr is a tour issue only that you can buy it of the UST tour shop like me. Let me know if you need one ship to Canada.
