Nike One Black, Titleist Pro V1x, Taylor Made TP Black Swing Speed?

How fast should you swing (driver/irons) to use this ball?

I really wanted to try these balls but I don't know if I can get the most out of them. My swing speed is about 100 with the driver. Anything else you need to know in determining if these balls are right for me?

Can't say too much about the others, but I believe that the Titleist Pro V1 and V1x are each tested at ball speeds of 167 mph. All of the tour balls require higher ball speed to perform at their maximum potential. Slower swing speeds normally require a softer ball, ie. Titleist Dt so/lo, Noodle, etc.

I'm similar to your boat. My SS with driver ave is around 95. I normally don't get the premium balls but I have tried them. I just picked up a two pack of the Nike One Black for $5. Which is actually cheaper per ball then buying them in a dozen. I've tried the V1 and V1x. Haven't tried the TP. Tried the HX tour too.

 

Once on a slow day when I was swinging well, I tried the V1, V1x, NXT tour, HX big bertha on a course and didn't really have much of a difference. All four balls were within like 5 yards of each other.

 

In terms of short game, it really depends on how good you are because the premium balls should spin more and provide better feel.

 

I'm under the impression in terms of length and accuracy off the tee a cheaper ball may perform just as well if not better. If you don't swing fast enough the premium balls may spin more because you haven't hit hard enough to compress the core. The theory behind multiple piece balls is the harder you swing the further into the ball compress and the innermost layer you compress makes the most difference in terms of ball flight.

 

That being said, I really don't know what swing speeds you need to get the appropriate compression on those balls. Of course the TM people would have your believe their new ball can be used by anyone well.

I also have a 95 mph swing speed and was recently launch monitor tested for a driver. While there I asked about which ball to use and was told because of my swing speed I needed a higher spinning ball - they suggested the HX Tour 56. I seems to work well, based on my last few rounds vs the HX Tour I'd been hitting. I suspect the ProV1 (not "X") would play similarly....
