Cobra HS9 Driver

Split from WITB Cobra Staffers
I saw the HS9 yesterday and it's the best looking Cobra driver that has come out in some time. It still sits a little closed but I could definately play a 12 degree head bent open a couple degrees to get it square and throw a nice shaft in the head. Cobra has definately made this biggest move in tour relations and club quality this year. If they release some of the blades that are on tour and a nice forged CB set then they could make a big impact on the golf market IMO. Also, as a little aesthetic side note, the retail HS9 drivers have Aldila Cobra NV shafts in them and the new Torsion Control Lamkin grips but instead of the blue ribbings they have green ribbings on the grip to match the green of the shaft, they looked really impressive.

i totally agree, though i dont like their drivers because of the looks of them, just because im a smaller head driver kind of a guy, but other than that they are making strides. just get last years' putters back in play with a lil upgrades, optica out, and get rid of the circle around the sweet spot of the irons.

Why would they do another set of forged CBs---they already have one of the top sets available today?? Don't hold your breath for a forged muscle back iron anytime soon. They did four sets of those as incentive to get some of the pros signed up and/or moved from Titleist (only way they will consider it is if one of their pros wins something really big with them---read that major not a WGC). Tour only for the near and far future.

 

All HS9 drivers have Graphite Design Shafts in them---none have been built with NVs (The speed models yes but not the HS9). Maybe someone retrofit it. But all the shafts Blue, Green, Red band with matching grips are all graphite design (GD YS6.6+, GD YS5.6+, and GD YS4.6+ to be exact). You need to really see one and read it because NO HS9 has a NV shaft of any kind in it. That by the way is also true of the fairways that have the 5.6+s in them.

Ya but is it really worth $400.00? Is it THAT good that is worth spending 100 bucks more than most of the other 460 drivers out there. A few more yards to me is not worth that much. I see the shaft is about .5' inches longer too...so I'm sure they will sell that when the head has nothing to do with the extra distance...it's from the shaft length.
