I'm in the market for my first rangefinder and can't decide between the Bushnell Tour V2 (non-slope) and the Leupold GX-1.

Can anyone help weigh-in on some pro's/con's of each brand?? Thanks!

Having only owned the Bushnell Tour V2 (and still using it), I can't really weigh in much on the Leupold. However, I have nothing but good things to say about the Bushy. The pin seeker option is awesome, especially if your courses use reflectors on their pins.

I'd spend the extra $100 on the GX-3 and be done with it. The build quality and optics are are far superior and in the long run will be worth the extra cash initially. In terms of tech the OLED should last forever too. I've had them all right down to GPS systems and BST'd them all after using the GX-3.

I purchased the Bushnell Tour V2 last week. I've played five rounds with the thing and have nothing negative to say. The device is awesome. If there's something better, I'd like to know what improvements there could possibly be. This device is easy to use, very accurate, light weight and compact. I haven't dropped mine, YET, but I'm told they're very rugged. I played on a foggy Saturday morning and the device gave me accurate readings to bunkers, trees, mounds, and pins. Simply point and shoot. The pinseeker feature is all it's cracked up to be. For $299, it beats my old GPS hands down.

The V2 has a 2 year warranty and Bushnell lasers are used by over 90% of PGA Tour Pros. The reason the pros go with Bushnell is due to superior quality and accuracy. The GX series has a 1 year warranty and is only used by a couple of pros. I saw the survey and it was very interesting to see which guys use which devices. You should try to track it down. I think it was done by Daryl Survey.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit ridiculous to spend $400 on a range finder that has a battery door compartment issue? My friend has the bushnell 1500 and I was planning to get the 1600 until I read complaints about the battery door coming loose on both models. Don't get me wrong, I love using his 1500 but I would hate to have black tape over my battery compartment.

Call around your local golf shops and ask which unit is returned more for repairs and you will find that the Bushnell is the winner. Good thing they have a 2 year warranty because you will probably use it at least once. Just because it is the most used in tour doesn't make it the best or most reliable.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
