Tulsa Area: Page Belcher

current conditions of both courses?

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone has a recent report on Page Belcher. Olde Page has had the greens re-done, what's the verdict? I know this is a muni course (with budget problems), so I'm not asking for you to compare it to Augusta or anything. Just a recent opinion on how the course is playing.

I played Stone Creek about 3 weeks or so ago and the greens were truly awful (even by muni standards) has there been any improvement?

I don't know but wondered myself if they were now going to replace the greens at Stone Creek and Pecan Valley. The greens at Woodbine looked fantastic so I bet Olde Page probably is in good shape as well. Forest Ridge is also replacing all 18 greens as well for us BA folks.

Olde Page isn't too bad. I like the greens, and think they will continue to get better. The greens are very different than what they were before. Much firmer, and they roll a lot quicker than they did before.
There were still a few dead spots here and there but overall fairly decent shape. It seems they have made some of the greens smaller as well. I don't know how I feel about that...

They are going to do Stone Creek's greens as well, but I can't remember when they said that work would start. I hope they do it soon, but in all reality it will probably be spring before they start as starting during fall/winter wouldn't make much sense. I like Stone Creek a lot better than Olde Page.

Mohawk/Woodbine greens are actually in better shape than Olde Page. Not as many dead spots on them, and I would say a little firmer. I can hit a hundred plus yard shot into them and have a hard time finding my ball mark. They are that much firmer.

Mohawk/Pecan Valley is closed for the season and they will be replacing the greens come spring. I believe thay went ahead and closed it now because they had already lost several greens and didn't want to waste money trying to fix what was going to be pulled out soon anyway.

The greens right now are pretty bad. The course overall is in pretty good condition, but alas the greens leave much to be desired.

I need to stop by Forest Ridge and see when they will re-open. I honestly thought it would be open by now. I played it while the back nine was closed for $20 but the greens on the front nine were so bad. Woodbine is in really good shape but I still haven't been back to Stone Creek to check out the greens. I have been playing LaFortune and Emerald Falls a lot lately. I love both courses but holes 5-8 at Emerald beat me up pretty good, so if I am not playing well it can be frustrating. LaFortune is good as a single because I can always find a group to play with. Southlakes and White Hawk are also in the rotation although those are two ends of the difficulty spectrum. I am going to plunk down the coin to play The Patriot in the spring.

Bretts are usually pretty good guys.
