Loooking at Hammock Beach for a Christmas/New Year trip. Like the pricing I got, looking for opinions on the courses, practice facility, and accomodations from those in the know.

I played the Ocean Course a few years ago the day after the champions tour event. The course itself is a terrific Jack Nicklaus design and it was immaculate the day I was there. Six holes are on the ocean, and there are some spectacular risk - reward holes sprinkled thru the course. Nice practice facilities, too. However; in order to play it I HAD to stay there, which ticked me of to no end. The restaurant staff there at the Atlantic Grille or whatever it's called over the pro shop was very snooty, and the food was grossly over priced--$50 for two hamburgers, a hot dog, and sodas. I stayed in what's called a club room right on the beach, spitting distance from the pro shop and course. The room was quite nice, and had ample space for me and two rambunctious kids. I never went into the main tower, or any other facilities, so I can't comment on them. The golf course is great, but since I'm from Florida the hotel and facilities was just another hotel.

I played the ocean course a few months ago. Love it, I try to play it a few times a year since I live in Orlando. Great everything, you wont be disappointed. Do make a day trip to Orlando and come play some of our superb layouts.

Either way, you are going to love playing the Ocean Course, stand by for the Watson course, it will bite you bad!

I just played the Conservatory. All I can say is wow. It's a fantastic course, one of the best I've played in Florida. It's the longest, hardest course in Florida, but only if you play it from the back tees. From the gold or blue tees, it was one of the best days I've had on a golf course in a long time.

I just played both courses and all I can say is wow. Apparently they have a new superintendent that has gotten the courses back on their way to being incredible. All the details are addressed, rough cut, bunker edging, hand mowing and rolling greens. The courses are definitely not to be missed.
