Hogan Apex Steel Shafts...who makes em?

Anyone know who manufactures the Hogan APex steel shafts? ANy specs on the current apex steel, R (3) flex......torque, shaft weight in grams?

 

What other shafts are they comparable to?

Hogan was making the Apex shaft prior to being acquired by Callaway. It was a design by Bruinswick that was scrapped. It is a very good shaft but actual specs are hard to come by. Good luck. Try the rifle X.

Hogan apex shafts were last made by Royal Precision. According to RP, the 3 flex was between a 4.0 and a 4.5. The 4 flex was between a 5.0 and a 5.5. The weight of a 3 is 110g and the 4 is 113g.

When I called Ben Hogan Customer Support a few weeks ago, I found it located in Carlsbad CA alongside the Callaway CS. I was querying about two clubs; the BH-5 and the FTX in Apex 3 (regular) steel. Note that the BH-5 Apex shaft has True Temper on the shaft just below the bottom visible step. I have not yet seen the FTX to look closely at the shaft, but apparently they are different. Not much info but here it is:

 

Apex 3 in Bh-5: 114 grams, mid-kick, constant weight, 1.8 to 2.1 torque

 

Apex 3 in FTX: 111 grams, mid-kick, constant weight, 1.6 to 1.9 torque

 

Another comment was that the flex of the Callaway CW Uniflex (TT), as on my set of X-14 irons, is between reg and firm. And that I could think of the Apex 3 as a "touch weaker".

Thanks for the info, I also had called Hogan and got callaway customer service, They also told me that the shaft weight for the APex Edge 3 was 114. WOudl thius basically be considered a mid or lightweight steel? I have noticed that the typical stock oem weight in around 110-114 grams....

funky. The Apex3 shaft in my Hogan 6-iron feels considerably stiffer than the RP 4.5 in my Snake Eyes 6-iron. I figured the "3" was a reg+.

True Temper was also a source for this shaft off an on over the years. The Dynalite Gold is a very comparable product.
