ZZ 65 vs. CS lite Stiff

Need help deciding
I am a 14 handicap and will play the ping i5 irons. Driver swing speed is 95 mph and 7 iron 155 -160 yards. Medium height ball flight. I have played the cs lite reg flex in the past and felt that I lost some accuracy and shot dispersion was not tight. I have tried both shafts at a ping demo day and really could not notice a big difference. What do you think?

I have close to the same swing speed numbers and flight characteristics. I use ZZ65 stiff steel shafts in my Ping ISI irons and the shot dispersion is quite good. I would bet, you could play the ZZ-65 in stiff.

overall the two shafts are very similar..in a perfect world you should hit the z-z65 lower than the cs-lite stiff. The z-z-65 is considered to be inbetween the cs-lite stiff and and cslite x-stiff . and we all know the cslite x stiff is a dynamic gold x-100 with the ping name on it.. if you hit it med high i would lean towards the cslite stiff... if you had said you hit it really high then you could lean to the zz65.

hope this helps

My SS is slightly higher than yours and I play the Z-Z65 softstepped once to get them to around DGS300 flex - maybe a tad less.

My irons are G5 to 6i, then i5 from 7-PW.

For a 14 hc, that's something to consider - G5 in the low to mid, then start the i5 at 6i or 7i - works out nicely. If you do so, strengthen the lofts on the G5 by 1 degree to get them to be compatible with the i5 flight.

good luck.

and remember to specify your swingweight when you order.

Oh, yes, and the Cushin inserts and the softstepping once make these feel really nice on the body - soft feel.

Im between a 2-6 handicap and I hit my I3+ blade w/cslite stiff 9 iron about 145. I have access to almost any clubs I want to play and I absolutely love these sticks. I think the cslite with inserts are one of the easiest shafts available to play. They are extremely forgiving and never seem to punish my hands on miss hits durring fall here in MN. (ouch). They seem to be very workable high or low and have a nice load that I seem to be able to feel unlike DG and others which never seem to give me that pop or release like the CSlites do. I know someone above said the CSlite X is the same as DG x-100 but I know nothing about that. All I know is that I really enjoy my shafts. The only thing I could say negative about them is because they seem to be a bit soft my misses seem to be left, but with your game as you have described it, I think it would be a perfect fit. I may look at PX in the future but for now, my CSlites will stay in the bag. Love them. :drinks:

CS Lite X are NoT X100 rebadged

DGS=s400

DGX=x100

CS Lite S=Rifle 5.7

ZZ-65=just under DGS400, slightly over DGS300

One must also remember the kickpoints on these shafts - acc. to Ping, the CS Lite is sort of their version of Nippon - more mid kick; the Z-Z65 is higher kick.

CSLR HIGH

CSLS slightly lower than CSLR

zz-65 lower than CSLS

DGs4 lower than zz

You can have Ping softstep or hardstep the Z-Z65 - so you do have a limited choice to fine tune a flex if you are around a stiff.
