SM Swift X 2010 vs 2011

Can't decide 7.5" or 8.5" top

Trying to decide if I should get a 2010 or 2011 sm swift x bag this year. If anyone has tried both please any input would be great.

2010:

2.8 lbs
7 pockets

but has a 7.5" top.

2011:

3.3 lbs
8.5" top with a new grab handle

but only has 5 pockets.

I normally put my leupold range finder in the top valuables pocket on all my carry bags so its easy to grab quick

So I guess is it more worth it to have the 1" bigger top and the grab handle or have the nice location of the range finder and the lighter bag? I guess the real question is how big of a difference is that 8.5" top going to make over the 7.5" ?

I have the SM Mini with 14 clubs and less pockets than the Swift. I think you should get the 2010. An other member at my club and I both modified the mini to be more like the Swift 2010 by removing the lower portion of the X divider. I think I would look for the 2010 if I had to replace this.. To me part of the bags comfort is that the clubs stay hugged together and the weight is more stable and controllable. The other member just bought the Swift 2010 version.

I would suggest the 2011. In my opinion the extra inch is worth .5 lbs. I currently have the 3.5 SM and would have bought the swift X if the "mouth" was a bit wider in 2009 when I bought mine. If you're really looking to lighten you bag you should concentrate on what's in the bag. I carry mine fairly bare bones. Car key's, Tee's, rangefinder or skycaddie, five balls, and sometimes a snack. I rarely need much else.

You should look at the TM Micro Light bag.. It has some great features...Lots of pockets, light weight, molded handle, nice shoulder straps.

Good point. Nice bag as well. Especially if you're a TM guys thru the bag. Might be more expensive though; just a guess.

I don't really carry much but a towel, 7 balls, water bottle, tees, medical tape, sharpie, range finder, sun glasses, car key, and my phone.

does TM sew the dividers to the sides of the bag like SM? besides the weight, the clubs slipping past the dividers on the sides is the reason I'm looking to switch from my Ping Voyage to a SM bag.
