Shaft length and loft...

What lengh/loft is you Driver, 3wood, 5wood?

I am in the process of testing new Drivers, 3 woods and 5 woods and I could use your help. I am looking to go a little shorter than what I used to have to get a little more control under my belt.

What length and loft are most of you playing on your Driver, 3 Wood, and 5 Wood?

My 8.5 G2 driver with ProLaunch stiff is 'standard' Ping's 45.75". I hit this driver Fantastic. Also, SQ Tour with same loft, shaft and flex but 45". I also hit this very well and just a little more accurate than G2 (I am 2HCp). But.... it's 15yards shorter than G2. So, today I extended the shaft another 0.75", so that it's same as G2's.

I haven't hit it yet but feel nice and of course fell more wippy. And swing wight will go up to about D4 and more then G2's. But, my irons are about D5 anyway, so, with my very smooth 115+mph swing the combo will work well. I am sure. In fact I used to play 46" in X stiff a few years back.

I think it's depends on you swing's style and tempo, as well as your natural shape. Mine are small 'cut - fade' shots and I aim left and cut back into play. So, with longer shaft, low torque, heavier swing weight, lazy hand action of my swing, 45.75" should be just right.

If you have very active release swing, 44" will be good. I don't think you can swing my clubs and get good results.

Ive had drivers in 45" 44.5" & 44" and I like the 44" to 44.5" drivers better. I little more confidence, makes the head seem bigger. Also some gained accuracy and no real loss in distance.

I switch it up between 10.5* TM R5 TP at 44.5" and a Launcher 460 at 10.5* that plays 45". I get about the same results with both. I'm having a Wishon 949MC 10.5* built at 44.5" that I can pick up on Mon. I like the feel of the shorter shaft better. I only play one FW that usualy falls between 16*-17.5* (have several) all of them are 42.5" weather they are steel or graphite shafts.
