Wondering if anyone has been onto the course WCC at Delaware Park post-Irene. I know the course was closed for awhile and even though I called the pro shop already just wanting to see if I can get any other input. Thanks!

and to reply to my own post.. I heard its a par 69 and cpo for awhile.

it was supposed to re-open this past saturday 10/1 post storm damage


The course sits pretty low and has been prone to water issues - the original opening was delayed several years ago due to water issues.


But it is a great course to play - very challenging but enjoyable

If you find White Clay Creek to not be dried out yet try Wyncote. It's near Oxford, Pa ... about 45 minutes from WCC.

It was built on a flood plain so floods easily. It is a great course, always in great shape. There are many forced carries off the tee, therefore tee selections is critical. Most of the greens are elevated. LIke I said it is a great course and definitely worth the trip. Also there is a GG across the street so you can load up on balls before you go, cause that course eats them.

I played there Sunday afternoon 10/16. Course was in nice shape but the pace was slooooow. Cart path only. IIRC, only two lingering effects from the hurricane. The par 5 8th hole was not fully restored, so it's a par 3. The tee box is between the two carry areas, right hand side by the cart path. Length was about 190 yards. Also, the first tee boxes for Gold, Black, and White were closed. They used the forward tee box. I hit a smooth iron and almost went too far. Ended up the rough right before the intersecting creek.

They dropped $1M in course repairs b/c of Irene. From what I was told, the bridge you ride over, from the clubhouse to the range/1st tee, was entirely under water...above the first rail. That should give some idea what happened.

I may play WCC again this year but will probably avoid the weekend.
