Great screen , easy to measure course .

Measures the distance of your shot . Stores average distance of your clubs.

Database for courses not as big as skycaddie.

Great support service , mine had sme problems , even though bought from ebay . Support from staff in Australia was outstanding.

It looks like this is the most technologically advanced GPS given the statistical tracking, ability to map courses, nicer display, etc.

 

Did you look into anything else prior to getting the Sureshot?

 

My only hesitation is that I won't have data on courses that I frequent - unless they let me map the course prior to playing.

 

Does it use a standard battery or is it built in like an IPOD would have?

Sureshot was my first GPS.

You can check sureshot website , where the courses mapped by sureshot are listed and can be downloaded for free.

The battery is built and is great . There is no annual fee unlike skycaddie.

Course mapping is very easy and can be done in 15-20 minutes.

Just to add that ~5000 new courses were just added to their databases. Another ~1500 or so will be added in the near future. I just received my Sureshot a couple weeks ago and now all of my local courses are available for download. So far I'm very happy with my Sureshot.

i have a bushnell. want a sure shot. anybody played with both and want to compare. which is easier or better.

The SureShot really is trying to be the SkyCaddie killer, and looks poised to do it.

 

The feature set is way more than you get with Skycaddie, and they appear to have a REAL support group. Skycaddie has been known to ingore emails, and generally have poor service ( I have experienced this personally).

 

As soon as more Connecticut courses get the pro treatment from SureShot, I'm going to find a way to get the scratch to get one!

After utilizing the reviews and comments on this site for GPS units, I decided to get the Sureshot GPS. Thus, I felt I would give my feedback about the unit so far. I will preface this with the fact that I have only played one round of golf with it. Therefore, my opinion is not complete, but I do have some good observations.

 

The overall use of the unit is great. Very simple to use and very intuitive. I found the stats feature absolutely awesome. Stats are something that I really like to have and it was a deciding factor in getting the surshot over the others. The software is great and easy to use as well. My only complaint is that you must have the unit connected to a PC to view any scores or data. It doesn't download the data to the computer. I e-mailed sureshot to ask if it was possible to download and they responded within 1 day that it wasn't. So, good customer service so far and quick responses. I also asked if you could print out any data and again the answer was no.

 

Overall, my first round with this unit was very good. I played much faster and found the unit to be a huge help. I shot the best score I have ever shot on this particular course. My only complaints with this unit so far are with accuracy and the clip. The course I played was "professionally-green mapped" and the yardages were innacurate on every hole. Standing at the front of every green to check accuracy, the unit was off by as little as 5 yards and as much as 15 yards. My signal was great the whole day, so I cannot chalk it up to sattelite reception. I am going to map the course on my own and see if the accuracy improves or not. This will be a huge determining factor with this unit. If the accuracy doesn't improve on this course or others, I will be returning it and finding another brand. Again, this was only my first round and everything was great except for this. Hopefully, the accuracy won't continue to be an issue. Finally, the belt clip was very flimsy. It is just a piece of folded metal that streched out almost immedietely. It won't hold onto the bag because of too little tension and it isn't great at being stable on a belt. Again, the metal stretched out so quickly that it doesn't have much tension.

 

I hope this may help and I will bring an update as I gather more information.

I think this product is great. All functions work well. Screen is bright.

 

Only problem i found is that the clip is really weak that attaches to bag.
