MotoACTV vs Golf Logix GPS8 vs Bushnell V2

I have a Moto ACTV, a GolfLogix GPS8 and a Bushnell V2.

 

Here are my thoughts.

 

The motoactv is a great device. Better than I thought. I didn't think I'd like having a watch on. This looked big and bulky to me - but I was surprised when I wore it how light it was and how it felt good while swinging. I don't care for the music - I'm not a music guy. But what is nicest about it is the reporting. It could replace my manual scorecard keeping process. The problem with it is that it isn't just plug and play. You have to touch it every hole - several times. You need to think about it a lot and do a lot to it. Every stroke - you have to touch it. And I forgot - several times - so it messes up the reporting and tracking. I guess if I used it a lot, eventually that would become second nature - but it isn't yet. I'm going to keep working on it. It also only gives me distance to front/center/back - no other targets. (unless I missed that) I like the club reccomendation also - kinda cool.

 

The GolfLogix is an older device - but it is awesome for me. I no longer pay the annual fee - I have the courses I play the most loaded - that covers 90% of my rounds. Turn it on. And go. It gives me front, middle and back, as well as up to 6 hazzards. Each hole, it advances itself. Honestly - I hardly ever have to touch it except if I am looking at targets. It clips on to my bag and is very easy to see (good clear screen with big #s) It tells distance of last shot - if you want, but nothing else. What I like most about it is that unless you need it, it isn't there. If you do, it gives you everything you need - quickly. This device, more than the others, truly speeds up play.

 

The Bushnell laser is the most precise of the bunch. I can determine exact distance to the flag, or to any other hazzard, if I shoot it correct. The problems are that it is slow to go to my bag, grab it, get a reading, double check the reading, put the device away, etc. It is great for par 3s and for shorter approach shots. It just doesn't help me so much everywhere else - and it slows me down when compared to the other two.

 

For me, the Golf Logix GPS 8 is the best of the bunch. It works fastest, is least intrusive, and gives me the most information. I do my stats tracking manually, and am not truly precise enough to need the Bushnell most of the time. The only drawback is the annual fee.
