Problem with leupold gx4 led display. Battery indicator etc are fading

Recommended Posts

Hi have had my gx4 over a year and recently I noticed that the lower part of the led

Display where the battery indicator and temp are slowly getting eaten away. What I mean is that

Its slowly disappearing. No lightening just the edges of indicator are gone but I can still see partsbof the battery indicator. Atone experience this?

I haven't got quite the same issue but mine is a similar age and it's getting very irresponsive to button presses. I thought it may be a battery issue but it wasn't.
Very frustrating as the whole point of a laser is to speed up play by quickly getting a yardage and more often than not I'm standing there pressing several times before the Leupold decides to respond. I'm also based in UK and bought it in US as Leupold not sold over here so not even sure whether it's under warranty.

You guys may want to check this page as I believe I read another thread related to this issue. There is a defect and it needs to be sent back to Leupold in Beaverton,OR so that they can re align the laser. It takes them like 15 to 30 minutes. If they can not realign, then they should send you a new model. Check down this page or the next. Just read about it about a week ago.

I had the exact same problem, then took my unit back and now have the exact same problem happening with the new one. Now the battery indication part of the screen is completely faded, and the faded region is increasing in size. moving slowly up the screen. all together I've had my 2 units for well over a year now. but still it is disappointing to have spent this type of money for something that is failing in such a simple way.

Leupold's customer service is awesome. They stand behind their product. A friend of mine worked for them in Oregon and couldn't say enough good things about the company. Their laser units are made outside the country so it's easier to replace than repair them, and they would replace bad units (sometimes even if out of warranty if the product shows no outward signs of abuse) to keep their loyal customers happy. No hassles. Great product. I've had no issues with my GX4i after 2 full seasons. I just pop a new battery in once a year and it keeps on giving me quick and accurate distances with superb clarity. After reading about the bad experiences of others on this board with other makes, I'm staying with Leupold if and when I need another laser rangefinder!

Been a bushnell owner times 2....and considering Leupold for my next RFer. Good to hear that they stand behind their products if and when there is a problem!

Not wanting to go off topic.....but can't find a thread addressing this so.....

SLOPE feature worth the extra $100??? I've always struggled adjusting for drastic elevation changes in club selection. Do you find the 4X gives an accurate & helpful adjustment to "Flat and level" distance? .....or after an initial period of using it.....is it relgated to the gee whiz - I should have just gotten the 3X version? Thanks.

I think that the slope function is accurate. Whether it's worth it or not depends on how much money you have to spend, what you're playing for, rules you play under, how accurate you your ball striking is, etc..
For me I wanted the slope and am happy I have it, no doubt in my mind what yardage I need to hit.
It's worth mentioning that the GX4i2 is apparently tournament legal with the silver face-plate.

ok guys, I'm the original starter of the thread, being in manila i did not think it was possible to send my unit it as i got it off eBay.
long story short i used the rangefinder all the way to 2015. thats well out of warranty and 3 years since it first exhibited problems.
it was so bad that i could only see 3 digits the middle digit was also blank. so i could easily be short by a full 0-9 yards. still i decided
to use it til someone changed it to Meters and i got fed up.

all this while i have been trying to call leuopold in oregon but everytime id try it would always be closed due to time difference in asia. i attempted
many times to stay up to 1am to give them a call but i am always boozed up if I'm awake at this time. finally in desperation i took a shot in the dark
and emailed one of their retailers. i got a reply from leupold international and told me to send the unit in. sent them the unit via international mail, they got
it in 5 days and mailed me a new upgraded GX4I2 no questions asked. i should have it any day now, they even paid for the shipping.

i stand behind leupolds Golden circle ! lifetime warranty, no paperwork needed, no proof of ownership, i could have been the 5 th owner and they would
fix it or replace it within reason. i am a leupold man for life!!!

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
