Love Epic FW shaft, ordered an Epic T90 AND std for my drivers, what to expect?

Bought a 90g FW x flex epic from rockbottom.com for my G20 5 wood on a whim. What a great shaft. VERY accurate. Feels great with the heavier weight and I am getting about 260y total (mostly carry) out of it. I tipped it 1", per what I read on here and it feels very smooth. SS is about 107 MPH.

 

Today I picked up a x flex Tour 90 .335 epic white shaft, and a x flex .350 (mid 70 gram) epic silver shaft to try. I figured for $20 each, I could have a pretty cheap experiment.

 

The white shaft (heavier) will go in my 910D2, and the silver shaft (lighter) will go in my G20 driver.

 

I was thinking to build the 910F at 44 - 44.5" and the G20 at 45".

 

I have read that you need to tip the 910 shafts 1/2" to make them play standard due to the surefit adapter.

 

My driver SS is 115, any thoughts on if I should tip the tour 90 1/2" in the 910, or just go straight in. I have a smooth transition, but want a heavy solid feeling shaft.

 

Anyone else try the tour 90 in a driver - what are your swingspeed specs?? I play 100+ gram shafts in my hybrids, 90 gram shaft in my FW, so heavier shafts work good for me in my woods.

So many of us are guilty of it, however sometime you have to stop and ask yourself the 'risk and reward' type question....what extra do I have to gain by tipping a shaft? Or what could I potentially lose?

I personally am a recent convert to heavy shafts and I am currently using an Epic T90 stiff in my Str8 fit Machspeed Black. Before fitting the adaptor, I was puzzling over whether or not to tip the shaft and in the end I decided not to. In basics I eventually came to the decision that it would be a moderately stiff shaft untipped and not a million miles away from my playing swing speed.....I would play it at a relatively short length 44" which would make it just a touch stiffer anyway, it's a relatively low spin shaft (or at least low enough)...so what would I have to gain by tipping it? .... In truth very little, maybe 100 - 200 rpm spin reduction, on a 'perfect' strike!! But on the other hand if the tipping of the shaft stiffened it up changed the shaft characteristics to a significant level then it could spoil a shaft that would have otherwise been ok.

I would have thought that if all other factors of your transition and swing were quite normal for a 115 mph swing, there would be nothing really to gain from the tipping.

For your reference my playing swing speed is approx 110mph, I have quite a hard transition and hence why heavier shafts work for me. Many describe the The T90 as a stout/firm shaft but for me it's smoothness masks the real feeling of stiffness that many other shafts can suffer with.
