Help With Swing - 13Hc - Opinions

Hi, First Video Post, Currently a 13 Handicapper, not that i have shot anywhere close to that for some time. Really lacking some consistency in my iron play, generally my woods are good and i get myself into great areas to attack the pin, but i get let down by my iron play. Having just come accross the 9 to 3 drill im going to start driving my swing on Slicefixers techniques, but this is what i am currently dealing with.

All advice and opinions appreciated.

you drop your head a alot on the back swing. some is normal, maybe a few inches. but your coming down like way more.

you could hinge your wrist quite a bit more and work on release. i like the shaft about 90 degrees to the left arm but everbodys different. look at steve stricker. your more like him from a wrist coquing point of view. some better video could help really delve into mechanics.

i personally like a stronger left hand and a weaker right hands, but again that all personal preferance. Or it could be a tweak to help with your misses. not sure about that here though.

what is your common miss with irons? which irons?

Thanks Akira, I have heard before that my head comes down quite alot, but my weakness is knowing how to stop that. Im using a 6 iron in these videos, as thats my main concern.

My common miss, is skinny shots, i dont usual hit the ball fat. As for where my missed shot go, My low Irons 5 - 3 go left usually if not a shank. But my 8-6 irons go a high right to left shape, not a full hook but not a managably draw.

My biggest problem is that on a Practice Range i get into a grove of just hitting shanks, then i can never recover from it. SO i avoid the range apart from my Gap wedge and driver.

I put another video up, i have a akward setup at home, but im looking into a tripod now to make it easier.

Im starting to think u might have some grip issues. The left hand doesnt look right. How are you gripping the club in your left hand. Is it in your palm or more in your fingers? It need to be more towards your fingers it looks. I will try to post somthing about proper grip. this is probably slightly more in the fingers than ben hogan would have, but better than being too in the palm. this issue would also allow you to hinge the club further and much more natural

Is it possible for you to post a video from down the target line (opposite the direction the ball will be traveling, of course), with you wearing lighter clothes? I think it would help to see shoulder tilt and rotation versus hip action and see how your clubs move along the plane, back- and downswing.

The fact your flight path is different for various clubs makes me think there might be something simple in your stance. I started slicing my driver again after not having that problem for a long time and it turns out one of my problems was cramping my swing by having my arms too close to my body (leading to an exaggerated in-to-out plane).

Try to make your backswing as slow as possible without actually changing the timing of your downswing.
