Painting an Odyssey DFX 2-ball putter

I have an Odyssey 2-ball DFX putter which is now looking very sad with a lot of chips and wear on the original gunmetal finish. The white disks are also marked. I like the putter but now don't like looking at it! I'm thinking of repainting it and wondered if anyone else has attempted this. I have the following questions:

 

1. Can the white disks be removed easily to facilitate the painting?

2. Can the insert be removed easily to facilitate the painting?

3. Any recommended paint or approach towards this?

While the original post is way old, the reply is asking, and I can provide a bit of insight.

It has been a while since I have used a 2 ball, but if the balls are just paint, acetone will easily allow removal. If they are an insert, see below.

 

2. Can the insert be removed easily to facilitate the painting?

 

Yes, they can be removed easily. Heat some water on the stove, put the putter head in the water for a couple of minutes, and the glue holding the inserts is weakened enough to remove them. The trick is removing them carefully enough if you plan on reusing them. You will need a thin sharp object to insert and start to pry an edge away. Once removed, while still warm, it can be a bit pliable, so you are able to ensure it remains flat, or put some weight on it. As for paints, most people use enamels, and Testors (model paint) and tamiya (I think) are two brands that seem to pop up often.
