Trip to The Wilderness...
I was thinking today and came up with a possible plan for our next outing.

How about playing The Wilderness in Lake Jackson, then we can go to my parents' house (10 minutes from the course) afterward? We could do burgers or some other form of animal carcass, and of course the beverage of your choice(s). They have a HUGE backyard and plenty of room for whatever size crowd we have. To give you an idea, my brother and I used to work on our wedges back there. I smell a little friendly post-round, short game competition brewing already....... :)

I know some of us have played there, and I can honestly say that the course is well worth the drive, even for you northerners. If we can get everyone to commit to making a day of it, I think it would be a lot of fun. Like I mentioned in the Trackman thread, the first few weeks of February are kind of up in the air for me right now, but we can plan on something either the weekend of Jan 27th or later on in February or early March. If there's enough interest, I'll call the club and see what kind of deal we can swing. Hell, its only $50-60 anyway, but they may be willing to work something out for us to come down.

3. Kyle (maybe, if he can get the day off)

good idea rick! i've always wanted to play there.....homer & james went there while i was in hk for the hike, and they said it was a really fun course.

It really is. There is a par 5 with a green that is 70 yards front to back - it actually playes like 3 separate greens the contours are so severe. One time I played there and the pin was all the way in the back. If it were a front pin I would have had a short pitch, but I hit an almost full LW back to the pin. Some really good risk reward holes, 4 great par-3s, and if the wind picks up it can really show its teeth.

Alright guys, that's 4 so far. I went ahead and emailed the course last night to see what they can do for us but have not heard back.

For you north side fellas, in case you're concerned about the drive time, its an hour exactly from the Galleria area, so probably an hour and a half max I'd say on a Saturday morning - maybe less if you want to test the DPS on 288. :)

Okay, how does everyone feel about trying to do this on the 27th starting with tee times around 8:30 or 9 am? I have yet to hear back from the course yet, but I think it was an email address to someone with the mgmt. company, so maybe they are a M-F operation on that side. If nothing special is tossed our way except tee times, I'm all for searching out deals.

I'll get a list going in the original post so we can have an idea of where we stand. Do we dare start the talk of a North vs. South battle again, or does that always seem to jinx the weather. :) Of course, that means that we have to have some players from the North side actually SIGN UP... :)

Alright, fellas. Would Sunday the 28th work? My wife and mom are having a baby shower for my sister on Saturday the 27th at my parents' house, which means my dad and I are on baby duty and golf is out of the question. However, this also means that I will already be in LJ Saturday and we will probably just stay the night if we get a group that can play on Sunday.

All- Happy New Year and hope all is well! I just have to share a couple of Football highlights...

Watch right before the snap and as the coach helps him to the sideline

TD Pass

Now Jay Saldi’s kid makes a play on 4th Down to put the game away; watch him (# 5) on the sideline

4th Down Stop

Yes, that is Aggie Great Shea Walker doing the color.

Yes, Riley is the Head Coach’s son and Todd Dodge was just named head coach at UNT.

Yes, that is Jay Saldi’s son.

Yes, Nate Newton’s son, Tre, is the stud running back.

Yes, Riley and Tre’ are just Juniors.

One of the worst jobs you can have is to be a Jr. High/ freshman coach in Texas. Long story short; they have to Breakdown Film at 2,3,4 in the morning while the Varsity staff is either having a cold one or asleep. I was told this was at 3 a.m. MAKE SURE YOU WATCH THE WHOLE THING!

Nice Avatar Hoov! Gig 'Em

Well, either the 28th will have to be the day or we'll have to find another weekend. I just got an invitation emailed to me to play in the Brazoswood Baseball fundraiser tournament on, you guessed it, January 27th. Tell me if any of you are interested in playing that day and I'll set up the the tee times.

I just got off the phone with The Wilderness, and we could set it up the morning of January 28th. If we have enough players, they would give us all the resident rate of $45. I need to get a decent idea of the number of players we'd have so I can make tee times. I'd like to know by Wednesday or so. They open tee times up 7 days in advance, but I can make them earlier if we have a larger group in order to get them all together.

Everyone OK with times starting around 8:30 or 9?
