Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and took some time to relax and enjoy the finer things in life!

I started my journey last Tuesday and this is my first post from the road. After two days of driving through 8 different states, I am now in Orlando, Florida. I am going to be here until sometime towards the end of March. I have spent the last three days practicing at Orange County National. It's a great facility on the west side of Orlando in very good condition with a 360 degree driving range, numerous chipping greens, and a large putting green. Orange County has hosted Q-school finals in recent years and is also host to the demo day and other activities that go on during the PGA Show coming up later in January. There are a number of players here who are doing the same thing I am to some extent. Most are either college players or mini-tour players from different parts of the world. I have also already run into a few guys from Canada who play the Great Lakes Tour and Canadian Tour. Everyone has their own goals, but we all strive for the same thing, to be the best we can be!

My tournament season is set to begin on Tuesday with a one-day Moonlight Tour event. That will mark my first competitive round of the year. Windermere Country Club is hosting the event. Following that will be another Moonlight event. This time a two-day tournament at Forest Lake GC in Ocoee, FL. The whole idea behind the Moonlight Tour is to offer players a place to play at relatively low cost, with all the events being within an hour or two of Orlando. The one and two-day events are 'qualifiers' of sorts for the second tier events called NEXT Events (No-Exemptions Tour). The money is greater in these events as is the caliber of play. It's a great training ground and the tour gives you an opportunity to play competitively as often as you would like.

I am going to spend tomorrow hitting balls and concentrating on the short game. I also plan to go around the 9-hole course at Orange County a couple of times to get warmed up! In my next post, I will update you on my tournament results and give you a little insight into my practice routines and what I try to accomplish when getting ready for my next event.
