Mills Plumber Neck users

How much toe hang does your putter have?

I love the Mills putters but I struggle with the dramatic toe hang on the Pro Series. I've tried the Fleetwood, Softtail, and Tradition. I was thinking about getting a softtail with a plumbers neck if there was reduced toe-flow.

My Klassic is about 4:30

 

My Tradition (361g head) is about 3:45.

Yep, same problem here. I seem to have to hold back the toe from spinning over during the stroke. Which models have less weight in the toe that would make it easier? I think when David softens the necks on the plumbers he is making, the whole package will flow so smoothly. I really love the round mills necks, they seek to only work for me with a full shaft of offset and need to be mid shafted. I am thinking a heel shafted Goosey with a full shaft of offset would be perfect in both looks and function on say a Mills # 2 model.. That Mizuno proto Goosey in satin someone had here would be perfect for me if it had a full shaft of offset and no sightlines :crazy:

Lawrence had some great comparison pics of a Klassic and a Tradition. I think a mid shafted plummers neck softail with sight dot is right up my alley. If i am not mistaken, doesn't placing the shaft closer to the cavity reduce toe flow?

I have a Tour Issue Fleetwood in Satin Stainless that is nearly face balanced maybe 3:15 or 3:30 hang.

if you've seen the recent #1 plumber proto, they won't flow like u describe. david built mine 1 deg open which makes it sweet if you don't want flow

Yep, saw that one before. Love it! May be trying to do something similar to an oil satin I should be getting this weekend. I think the neck is long enough to heat and bend like that.

That open putter face does not agree with me either. I need SQUARE to the line. I'm not good enough to compensate for stuff like that.

I just got back from putting with a fleetwood plumber's neck that I ordered for a local pro here and it's amazing. David has certainly outdone himself with these.

Hey no worries man everyone's learning something.

 

To measure toe hang, you balance the putter by the shaft on one of your fingers.

 

Picture Phil Mickelson's heel shafted putter balanced on your finger by the shaft... the putter head will point straight down. Now imagine the putterhead as the hour hand on a clock... Phil's putter is 6 o'clock hang because it points straight down.

 

Do the same with a face balanced putter and the putter head sits horizontally. That is a 3 o'clock toe hang.

 

Every other putter falls in between.
