Gullane no 1 is good and great price and so is Blairgowrie rosemount which is a tree lined course 1 hours drive from St.andrews not all great courses in Scotland are links Ladybank is 20 mins from St.andrews and is worth a game as well

I most certainly would not recommend anyone play any of the Gleneagles courses just now as they are in terrible condition.

And I'd also avoid St Andrews Bay courses as they will be expensive and not a patch on some of the other local courses, they aren't Links courses ....you'll be better sticking to the Old Links like Ellie or Crail.

Royal Aberdeen is a great track and if you are up that far then best to stay over and play Nairn or Castle Stuart or even the New Trump course

And I can confirm that the courses at St Andrews are in great condition currently (note the Old is closed until after the Dunhill) as well as Kingbarns.

Hi Brent,

We got beat on the last which was a bummer but it was a good close game and it was just one loose tee shot from my partner on the 17th to put me in the bunker up again the face so bogey was all we could manage....still lunch in the R&A Clubhouse afterwards sure made up for it

Incase anyone is interested here is the schedule for the St Andrews course closure for Dunhill Championship.

[i]Tuesday 1 October at 7.30 am.[/i]

[i]Jubilee / New A composite course will be in operation from Saturday 21[/i]

[i]Golfers are requested to report to the Starter at the 3rd tee of the Jubilee Course.[/i]
