I just booked my honeymoon for Cancun in January. We are staying at Le Blanc and we opted for an unlimited free golf upgrade. This allows us as many free rounds as we want at Moon Palace and the Riviera Cancun golf club.

So here is my question. Considering we get free golf at those places is it worth taking a day and going to another top course in the area and paying full fare to play it or should we just stick to our 2 courses?

For instance is Playa Mujeres so amazing that its worth spending the $500 for the two of us to take a day and play it rather than spend another day at Moon Palace for free?

And aside from Playa, are there any other courses in the area that are "must play".

Also, does anyone know anythig about Riviera Cancun Golf Club? I see Moon Palace getting rave reviews, but don't see much on Riviera.

i'm playing Grand Coral Riviera Maya the last week of November. i'm staying in an all inclusive right next door.
i sent an email asking for prices and this is what i got:

Prime Time 6:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. 165USD
Middle Time from 11:00 to 12:50 p.m. 140usd
Twilight after 1:00 pm 120usd

there are some things included like 2 bottles of water, cart, lockers, safety box but worth mention is that there is a free shuttle...maybe you could get free transportation from your hotel and you can save money....

amenities free of charge are spa, sauna, jacuz, and beach club.... maybe this could make the trip more worth while

Less than 2 days till my trip to Cancun! Can't wait for my tee time at Moon Palace Wednesday. I already have 7 tee times booked for the trip, all at Moon Palace and Riviera Cancun and best of all, all inclusive with my hotel package!

Been to the golf dome to practice about 8 times this winter so hopefully I won't be too rusty.

Just played Riviera Cancun last week and loved it. For $220, they picked me up at the hotel and brought me back, greens fees, rental sticks (new Callaway X2 Hot) and all food and drinks. They claimed to have stiff shafted clubs, but all were reg flex.

First out on a virtually empty course. Played a very relaxed two hour round and decided to go again for the $35 replay. Did the first 10 holes in about an hour and then got backed up but still finished 36 in under 5 hours.

The conditions were immaculate. Some of the tee boxes were literally divot free. Just beautiful. My only complaint was that the bunker sand played literally like wet concrete mix, but I'm sure that had to do with being first out.

Lots of wildlife, but only saw one baby croc.

The layout is fun, but it did start to blend together a bit in the back. A lot of short forced carries over swamp with visually tight chutes, but in reality pretty wide landing areas. Anything off the fairway is gone, literally, into jungle swamp.

I had every bit as much fun playing this as I did at the Mayakoba in March.

Yes, let me post some. It's the replay that makes it the killer deal. In hindsight, I wish I had brought my clubs, which would have saved $50 also.

I played Mayakoba and the TPC course (not called TPC anymore but I cant remember what it's called now.

Mayakoba was absolutely spectacular. I highly recommend it. Views, conditions, service, and layout make it probably the best course I have ever played. Check Golfnow, I got a deal for like $125 and it included replay.

The TPC course was nice, but nothing spectacular. I would say not worth venturing away from your included courses. Still a nice track though.

Have fun!

Just played Riviera Cancun last week and loved it.

Which course is this you refer to exactly? I get confused as to whether you are talking about the course that used to be a TPC that I think today they call El Tinto Cancun Country Club or the one that is over closer to the ocean, not far south of the Nizuc resort? Let me know if you can please cuz I'm headed down there in late May and would like to play a couple of days. Thanks !

Sorry I'm not able to help you, but this is the information for the Riviera Cancun course: Boulevard Kukulkan Km 26 Tercera Sección.

For anyone interested, I played Iberostar Cancun and Riviera Cancun during a New Year's Vacation and posted a short review here (http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1340390-spring-2017-cancun-or-cabo-mexico-recommendations-agency/)
