Cheraw State Park SC

My wife and I are looking into staying here a few days in mid-August. Hoping for some reviews/comments on the course and the cabins. Thanks in advance for any help.

Can't speak for the cabins as I used to live in Cheraw. Played the course a lot. Very good shape, very nice course. Course is very hard to beat for the money. Tees are spaced out enough to test your game (right at 7,000 yards from the back). Laid out well, only a few holes run parallel with plenty of pines between the holes that do run side by side. Can get crowded on the weekends. I used to always play early. Will be extremely hot in August.

Thank you for the positive review. Our plans have changed but we may still make it down there in the fall. It's only 3 hours south and the combination of rustic lodging and a nice golf course seem like a great laid-back getaway.

And if I was to play it at 7000 yards it would be a very long day for myself and my wife...I don't think I'd break 120!

Just like to offer a quick review.  We loved the course as it was in very nice shape with wide fairways and large greens which rolled very true.  Some bunkers were in rough shape but with no rakes that is understandable and crews had machine-raked in the AM.  Layout is such that other golfers are rarely (if ever) seen and the woods left and right are sparse enough that misplaced balls are easily found.  Front nine is mostly straight holes while the back has more doglegs and elevation changes.  Some beautiful holes with the lake in the background.  Didn't use the range but it had probably 15 bays.  We did hit some practice putst on their very large putting green. A second chipping/sand practice area is also available. Clubhouse is modern with a pro shop on one side and a snack bar on the other.  Everybody was very friendly and masks were mandatory inside. 

Our cabin was in a great location just off the 7th fairway but the inside could use some updates and a complete bathroom renovation.  We would go back but chose another cabin...#8 was not great!

Staying in the cabin we received a lower rate of $25 each.  The normal rate is $30 on weekdays and $35 on weekends which is a tremendous bargain.
