Cameron Swing weight help

Got an E3 on an Oil Can Nwprt
I recently purchased a putter from the local auction site and it is nicer than the pics showed, luckily. It is an oil can Newport that has had the finish removed and is raw. The putter measures 35" and when I checked the swing weight I got a big surprise. It weights out at an E3! I was under the impression that the longer the shaft in production stage, the lighter the head. For instance the Mil Spec 35" putters usually ran 330 grams, 34" was 340 gram, etc. I checked my SSS Nwpt Bch, 34"- 340 gram and it weights out at a smooth D3ish. Anyone know if this is normal on the oil can? I hate to cut the grip and see if it has been extended, but may have to do. I'll pull the head first and see what I am dealing with, static weight on the head.
If anyone has a tip or knowledge that would clear this up for me, feel free to chime in.
Thanks,

Say it isn't so. Could I have become a sniper and not known it? LOL. Actually, I bid on this rascal very early and just let it ride. I couldn't believe that I got it for the price I did. I figured it would pass my bid, easily.

Not sure why it feels so heavy, though. I may pull the head and get a static weight on it, just for grins.

At 35" it should be a 330 gram head, right? We'll see what I'm dealing with, later today.

Thanks,

Mike,

I'll give that a shot. The total weight of the putter is 509 grams. It has a Winn Heritage grip on it. It is the brown and black wrap that looks alot like leather. The putter is 36", when measured next to my 34"/ 340 gram Beach. I appreciate the help in this mild dillema.

You can email me, if that is easier at [email protected]

Thanks again,

LaMont,

Just to clairfy, in your orginal post you stated the putter was 35", but you measured again your 34"/340g and found it to be 36". So it is actually 2" longer than your 34"/340g.

So taling 36", and a Newport head, the actual shaft length is 33". I have a grip weight of the red/white amd blue winn grip at 59g and the gray winn (like the blue ping) at 61g. If you could get the grip wieght of the winn heritage grip the caluclation would be more accurate... but,

with the 33" shaft and a estimated winn grip wieght of 60g the head wieght would be 509g - 171g or a head weight of 338g.

Hope this helps. The extra 1" of wieght will add sesveral swing weight points over the standard 35"

Mucho gracias! That is what I was hoping for. I'll cut off the Winn and slap a Cammie grip on it. That'll give me a chance to check for an extension. If I can get it at 34" and a 340 gram weight, that would be the cat's meow. My fave Cammie is my 34"/ 340 gram Beach, so I could send it in to the Resto shop and get it redone and have a 2nd gamer.....................Oh the joy!

After I read you post, I went back and re-read my first one. It does sound like I am complaining, I guess. I am not, trust me. I was just making an observation and wondering if anyone might have an answer for me. Heavy doesn't scare me, at all. Now that I have gotten off of my butt and found it is 36" long, I'll probably go ahead and check for physical headweight before I alter the length. Just a tinkerer who tends to ask too many questions, I am.

The putter feels great, just different than my Beach.

Sorry for the confusion, you'll get no complaints from me about my Cammies.
