18 holes with the FT-3 Tour

Just played 18 with the new FT-3 Tour. 9.5*, stock NVS 65 stiff. Not sure what it cpm's out to but it felt a flex down from the Grafalloy Prolite in the 395 KZG Gemini that currently sits in the bag. About me; currently 8.2 index, 108 mph swing speed.

First impressions; This driver is long. It's easily as long as the Gemini with a muted sound at impact. Sounds like a muffled aluminum bat. I'm not sure a lot of people will appreciate the sound it makes. The hitting surface seems smaller than the Gemini, but the head is deeper from face to trailing edge. The face sits square at address, perhaps a wee bit open. Perfect for me. I'm mixed about the cosmetics. The joint between carbon fiber and Ti make it look like a giant hybrid from above and the sole is quite busy.

Although, I was put off by the smaller hitting surface, the FT-3 is forgiving enough for me. The neutral face setting was a help hitting high fades over a couple of doglegs. It went straight when I put the right swing on it. This was my first experience with the NVS, a nice feeling shaft, not as tight as I'm used to, but I could live with the softer tip. I felt it kicked more than the NV or the Prolite in my Gemini. A nice driver, all in all. I'm not thrilled with the sound it makes, but with the results I got, I could probably live with it.

I had one for about 4 rounds. I agree that it is a VERY LONG driver. I could never get comfortable with the club. I tried a couple shafts, but none seemed to be the one with that head.

The tour model is very low launching to loft, so I with it came in a 10.5° model.
