My Maxfli U6 ball review...details inside!

Well done Jamboy! I think you have a point regarding associating Maxfli and premium ball. It will be interesting to see how these sell.

good read.
i played the u6 balls that i got as sample last year.
this ball just wants to go straight!
however, i was not getting good distance out of it (5 yards or so shorter compared to fg tour zstar xv) and i was not entirely happy with the short iron spins either.
i need to try u4 as many have stated that it was better than u6.

Great review, thanks for the write up. I started playing the U4 late 2012 and you hit the nail on the head saying many people do not associate Maxfli with a premium ball. The looks I got from people when I would say I was playing a Maxfli. Even had a co-worker say its not a golf ball unless it says Titleist on it.

Thanks for the review. If Dicks Sporting Goods runs a good sale on these balls, I am likely to try them. There are other quality balls that are price (at least now) better than the U6. I'm not caught up on a specific brand and look forward to trying these. I'm a huge fan of FG Tour balls and Gamer V2....wish the ball makers wouldn't change the line-up as often as they do. Thanks again for an insightful review.

Thanks or the review - sounds like another OEM chiming in that swing speed matters. Decent price, but I have not seen many pros wearing a Maxfli hat which certainly helps marketing if they are truly trying to sell to the tour players or to some of us that feel better playing a tour ball. I do believe Maxfli (Dicks) deserves some credit for the R&D on the 6 piece ball, although time will tell if it really offers any advantages.

My bigger question for Maxfli - RIP U2,U3, and U4? And while you're at Dicks, what is going on with the Gamer Tour? And for Callway, is the Strata Tour Advanced a re-packaged Gamer V2, and if not, why ignore part of what you purchased from TF that had a big following?

Great write up. Based on your experience and after that testing: which are the balls on the market that are closest to the U6?

I had 6 when maxfli gave them away and was really impressed with them, just wish I was consistent enough to notice more of a difference, had nice distance off the tee with them and did ok round the green would buy them if there was a good sale on

thanks for the review. i was playing these last fall, maybe there was a different release date for different parts of the country. not a horrible but nothing remarkable for me.

Right now neither Dick's nor GG has any Maxflis on their websites. Weird.

I tried out the U6 recently and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly great either. I would definitely play them if they were inexpensive enough, otherwise I would prefer to stick to the Callaway Black (RIP) or the Srixon XV. I suppose I will give the U6x a try when they are available.
