Matching PXG 0311t swing weight with AP2 718

Hi, so I put myself in quite a mess and are hoping for advice.

The last two seasons I have played with Titleist AP2 718 with Project X LZ 6.5 and Tour Velvet 360 grips. Everything standard.

I just purchased PXG 0311t Gen2 with Project X LZ 6.5 and Golf Pride Multicompond used from “Golfclubs for Cash” in the UK. The seller guaranteed that the length was standard. And today when I received the clubs I see that they are half an inch long. I don’t want to return the clubs because the combo I bought is very hard to find.

So this gives me the option of shorting the club half an inch and that would obviously change the swing weight. The standard is D0 except for the PW which is D2. Not sure what the weight is with the PX LZ though. And I also don’t know that swing weight my AP2 had.

anyone has insight here? I want to have confidence in shortening my PXG irons and want to end up in the same swing weight as my AP2, or whatever standard is for my PXG with those shafts without having them half an inch longer.

Did you actually measure the current swing weight of the PXG's? I would assume that your AP2's were standard swing weight. Your best bet would be to cut down the shafts to your desired weight and add tip weights to get the swing weight where you want it. Not a tough job at all.

Hi! Thanks for helping out. Really appreciate it. I didn’t weigh my PXG, so they might have an increased swing weight you mean? Because of them being longer. It’s pretty new clubs though so I am guessing they were fitted like this, and therefore should be standard swing weight, right?

Also i already sold my AP2 so can’t weigh them and haven’t been able to find any reference on what swing weight they have with my specs :-/

Promising what you say! So if I take my clubs to a serious fitter they could weigh them, cut them and then adjust with weights in the tip! Doesn’t sound to expensive!

Yes, the longer the clubs the heavier they will swing weight. Mizuno, for example has heavier "B Weight" heads for longer builds but not everyone does. I am not sure how PXG operates.

 

It's not going to be cheap to have them cut down and swing weighted. Probably around $20 per club. If I were you, I would have them cut down to AP2 standard length (if they fit you well) and go from there. Any local club builder would be able to swing weight them for you and let you know where they stand now.

Awesome! $20 per club is cheap compared to buying new shafts! Really appreciate your input. Will reach out to a club builder here in Sweden!

Just so you are aware as I was thrown by some PXG irons I did work on, they don't use the standard 1/2 progression through the set so they end up coming out long on the long end of the set while the short irons fall into "standard" length. Just saying the seller may have been right when he called them standard. You also want to be aware of this when it comes to weighting them.

Interesting! I measured the PW and the 6-iron and both were half an inch longer than the specs on PXG.com. Or did I misunderstand something maybe, do you measure them differently?

Just curious, how are you measuring? Also worth noting, some manufacturers listed measurements are without the grip installed. Not sure how PXG measures but Titleist measures prior to installing the grip.

I also measured my TaylorMade wedges which is standard length and my method showed the correct standard length on them.

Also need to add, my friend measured his 0311t which is ordered half an inch long and they are exactly the same length as mine.

Ok. Sounds like your's are actually long, if the short irons are measuring out long.
