Possible to Change the Amount?

I am just curious if it is possible to alter the amount of toe hang a putter has. My scotty Newport currently has about 45 degree to hang and I feel as if I pull a lot of put. However, if I experiment with a face balanced mallet I struggle to square the face and push a lot of putts. Ideally Id like to have my putter be around 22.5 degrees of toe hang (in between the current and a face balanced putter). Is this possible to achieve or would I have to buy a new putter. If so, where could I go to find a putter with this amount of toe hang. Thanks

Toe hang depends on the relation of where the line of the shaft would intercept the COG of the putter head. Adding enough lead tape to one side would change the COG, however this would also cause the sweet spot to move too. The only way i believe it is possible is to change the lie angle of the shaft, or even to bend the hosel to move the point where the shaft line would intercept the head (if this is possible with your putter, and if you dare)

Pro, while it is possible to change the toe hang of the Newport you may end up distorting the hosel more than you want to.

You will end up with a putter that rear on looks like a Z. The upright portion of the neck will have to be bent toward the toe while the lie angel will have to be corrected at the knuckle.

Heat is your friend in trying to make this much of an adjustment and you may end up having to re-weld after you snap it.

If you have a backup I'd start with it and consider a refinish and customization shop help you figure out what can or can't be accomplished.

I have seen this configuration in a non-Scotty but can't put my finger on where or by name.... looked like what you'll need to shape yours like though.

My other suggestion was going to be bend the shaft or hosel. I had a buddy that used to for some reason always kick his putter right above the hosel and it put a nice lil bend in the shaft. Made it face balanced and he started kicking his putter less.

Here is an example of one of our MACHINE's where the customer wanted a Plumber Neck, but wanted a different Toe Hang than the standard Plumber Neck Would Give. This can be done to give any amount of toe hang.
