Putter feel- Z Star v. 2009 ProV1 v. Cally Tour i

I'm curious about the feel off the putter for the Z Star. If the ProV1 is a solid heavy feel off the putter and the Callaway Tour i has a light crisp almost hollow feel of the same putter . . . where does the Z Star fit in?

Similar comparison for the original Bridgestone B330 and B330-S, the B330's were hollow and light while the B330S's were dense and heavy to me.

Thanks for any input you may have!

depends on your putter...i putt with a nike method and the z-star feels rubbery off of that..but with my scotty it feels more solid and crisp.. and same goes with other balls feel different off certain putters. i know this didnt help but feel is so unique..balls dont feel heavier or lighter to me but i can feel compression and sound is most important

The Z-Star has a soft and somewhat muted feel, especially relative to the "clickiness" of the Cally. Also seems a little less lively feeling off of the putter than the ProVs. I recently switched to the Z-Star from the Callaway. Z-Star beats both in the wind and is also more durable than both.

Putting feel is only going to come from a Ball's Cover Material and the Firness of it.

Overall ball compression would have only very limited effect and then only coming onto play on very long putts struck aggressively..

(higher the #, harder the material).

The Pro V1 cover hardness is: 78
The Srixon's cover hardness is 81
The Callaway Tour i harness is: 84

The overall ball compressions are:

ProV1 - 95
Z Star - 90
Tour i - 109

Thanks for the input everyone.

I went to Golfsmith and opened a sleeve of Z Star yellows (I asked first if it was okay) and putted a bit with a White Ice 2 ball (which is my new putter). It is a very nice match- it had a similar solid feel off the face like the ProV1 but rolled out nice for me.

The ProV1's feel/are for me a little inconsistent off the White Ice insert.

I have to say with my Mizuno C-04 the ProV1 is a great match- my speed is as good as it gets for me . . . my alignment on shorter putts left much to be desired.

Having picked up a White Ice 2 ball blade- my alignment is much improved and I've been able to notice 'odd tendencies' in my putting stroke which are being corrected, but the ProV1 was very inconsistent for me off the putter face. The feel went from solid to bouncy/hot and my speed was terribly off.

I feel the same way. I'm finally a supporter of the "ball fitting starts on the green". I did a bridgestone ball fitting and they fit me with the e6. It does work for my driver but feels like a rubber ball off the putter. I've gotten to like the click of an iz our b330 even the zstar x is nice.

I have the white ice 2 blade and I feel the same way. The Srixon feels wonderful, even the ZstarX is not too bad.
