To hump or not to hump?

Hi everyone,

 

I am currently putting together a set of custom build irons, and have been contemplating which .370 shaft to install in them. I was recommended by a professional club fitter (after a comprehensive fitting session) to go with either a Dynamic Gold X100 or Project X 6.5 shaft. However, I have seriously been considering trying the Apollo Hump shafts.

 

The problem is that the Apollo Hump shafts only come in stiff flex and I have been hearing mixed reports. Some claim that they play stiff to flex, whilst others claim that they play soft to flex. Obviously, I am keen to try the Apollo Hump shafts, but do not want to be swinging a wet noodle that hits balloons.

 

My question is will the Apollo Hump shafts be sufficient?

Try one and then make up your mind.

 

The Hump does not play like any other shaft - since it does not bend at all in the last 12 inches of the shaft, where every other steel shaft bends the most.

 

You may be surprised at how much control and feel you have in the S flex compared to an X in any other design.

I have played humps for couple years. You can get regular or stiff (myostrichgolf.com)

 

They are wierd but I love them. Super soft in the butt, and stiff in tip. They feel like they will balloon but do not do so. I have shot my career round using humps. Try one, then if you like, get the set. One note: They were made in Eng, then went out of biz, then hireko or somebody bought them, they are made in China now. Quality is good, only two things though: weights vary a bit unless you buy them from same lot (ostrich golf sorts them) and the other thing is the finish wears easily, it is not bullet proof chrome like true temper. But as for performance, i love them.
