Scotty Cameron Red X Test Sample Review

I have now had the red x for just under a week and have managed to get a lot of play in with it so here is a mini review.

 

Looks:

 

This putter looks GREAT!!! The Sight Lines work really well and they help very much when lining up the ball. The head size overall is the same as the standard red x which for me is perfect!!!

 

Feel:

 

This is where the putter excels for me personally. The lack of insert for me is perfect as i am very big fan of the SSS construction. I use a TaylorMade TP-Red ball; this combo gives a great soft yet repsonsive feel when putting which is a true pleasure as it is perfect in terms of feel as i am very picky with how soft a putter is!!!

 

Short Putts:

 

This putter for me is awesome with short putts, the sight lines really help when lining up the putter and i was seeming to sink many short puts which normally for me is where i can get complacent.

 

Long Putts:

 

I have been struggling a bit with long putts with this putter; however i believe this to have occured due to the putter being 33.5" which for some who is 6ft 2 is not what i am used and will be adding length to it so i can stand more up-right when putting.

 

Overall Impression:

 

I am really really impressed with the red x test samples; i also have a CM finished one which will be my gamer and this one will be my back up one. The lack of insert for me is what makes this putter perfect!!! I can safely say that i have finally found the putter which feels perfect for me so i have no plans to change putters any time soon!!!

Thanks Sakman, i actually got this one after i got the charol mist one although this one was brought used so i am going to use the charol mist one for tournies and this one for pratacing,

Glad you like the test samples - too bad there's no word of Scotty making such a SSS non-insert mallet available to the general public!

 

personally i do not think that is a bad thing for people like me who like rare tour only stuff :drinks: !!!
