Fade Working Better Than Draw

Hi Guys,

 

Just returning to the game after a short hiatus. I have been out a couple times this season, and my fade is working much better than my draw. I don't mind playing a fade, but I am trying to get some insight as to why I end up with a hook instead of a draw. I appreciate your feedback.

Where does the ball start? Be more descriptive about your ball flight. What makes you fade "work better" than your draw? What is the total amount of curve in each? What is the problem with the draw?

Those are valid questions. I appreciate your interest. I've taken some notes with an 8-iron that demonstrate. All approximations.

To hit a 150 yd. (carry) fade I line my feet up about 15 yds. left of the target, and the face somewhere between the target and the line that I create with my feet. I try to keep my hands inside of the club past impact. The ball starts inside the line that I create with my feet and lands reasonably close to the target.

To hit a 155 yd. (carry) draw I line my feet up about 15 yds. right of the target, and the face in line with the line that I create with my feet. I accentuate the drop that my hands make from the top of the back swing. The ball starts around the line that I create with my feet and ends up reasonably close to the target 50% of the time. The other 50% are short left.

If anyone wants more detail let me know what I should look for and I will take notes.
