Swing update august 2014

Hi all,

 

since 3 days I've been working on my backswing tempo in order to slow it a bit down, to get better connection and acceleration throw the ball.

 

I did nine holes two days ago, and I hit very poorly, except a 3 iron on the 9th where the ball fly 240m ( 265y), very hight ball flight but well centered, a little bit on the toe though,

 

Except that shot most of my iron were thinned and hit on the heel. With the driver well, i hit it quite low and heely on the face, creating lots of spin, not good when you have a very high Launch Angle.

 

But it's only been 5 days, so i think I'll need weeks or even months to try "master" it.

 

I second issue is that i have the famous chicken wing at impact, so i'm not delofting and thus getting poor impact and lots of spin, but my main focus is the backswing so far.

 

 

 

on the first tee, very heely and low contact, with a slight hook, landed in the rough, carry 266y into the wind, I can tell that it was very spinny, stay very long in the air

 

 

on the 8th, same contact as the first tee, slightly better though, launched very high, but as it was poorly strike, didn't carry the deep rough, 275-280 carry, crosswind, slightly helping

 

 

on the second hole

 

172 to the pin, i took an 8 i, very clean contact, launched it very high with a slight hook, carry 5 y short of the pin

 

 

 

I can say that i didn't take any pleasure playing as my shot was poorly hit, but still shhot level on the 9th hole with 2 bogey and two birdies at 8 and 9 with stunning 3 i on the second shot of the par 5

have you ever thought of matching your arm and shoulder plane at the top of the backswing?

A powerful athletic swing with some problems.You are too flat going back.This causes your right elbow to out of position in transition and your elbow to be behind your right hip going down instead of in front of it..This results in a stall of the hips and a flip at impact .
Fix your backswing and you will fix your downswing
The genesis of your too flat position going back is that your knees are too bent at setup.A vertical line touching the front of your right knee (dtl view) should about intersect the middle of your shoe laces.Less knee bend will probably result in more bending from your hips towards the ball at setup.With your current setup position your hands immediately away from your thigh causing the clubhead to move slightly outside and then inside going back.So along with less knee bend and more spine bend at setup try this drill for your takeaway
Keep the toe of the club touching the foam or a cardboard box for the first 15 inches of your takeaway.
In a dtl video at the top of your backswing you want to see your left arm appear to resting on the top of your right shoulder or at the very least closer to this position than it currently is
