Anyone know how to open up a Bushnell Pinseeker 1500?

So I've read all of the old threads and have realigned the laser. I still can't get a reading. It powers up and the crosshair and pinseeker icon show but I never get a yardage reading. I've taken every screw I can find out of the thing but I'm unable to pull out the insides of it from the outer casing.

 

Any help would be appreciated. As I said I searched everything but wasn't able to find this specifically. If there is a thread I missed please lead me to it.

Pretty sure that if you open it, it will void and warranty. Why don't you send it to the company?

It's really old and I bought it super cheap and knew it wasn't reading properly. I just wanted to see if I could fix it myself.

Thanks for the responses. I know the thread you're talking about and I've done that and adjusted the laser, but I'm wondering if there is a way to pull all of the inner components from the silver shell. I'm wondering if there is a wire loose or something. If I'm not talking about the one you are please let me know.

I have the exact same issue with the same range finder. Got it from a friend and it will only read a yardage 1 out of 5 times at best. If I bang on it and/or pull the battery it will work for a minute. There is a comment towards the bottom of the thread you're talking about explaining how to remove the insides but it's somewhat vague. I have taken the entire insides out but couldn't see an obvious problem. You have to remove the focus ring from the eye piece (rotate counter clockwise with some force) and push the eye piece through the hole and the entire assembly will come right out. There is a screw under the rubber cover if I remember correctly, it's been awhile since opening it. I just removed the cover carefully and was able to put it back on with some double sided tape, couldn't find any glue lol. If you manage to fix it please let us know how , I gave up :p

Try using the eraser on the end of a pencil and clean the battery contacts inside the unit and see if that doesn't help.

I don't wanna speak to soon but this could be the fix, something that simple lol. I cleaned the contacts with an eraser and it's working everytime in the backyard..I'll be golfing tomorrow so I'll report back how it works on the course. Thanks for the tip Phil, ingenious!

@ OP - definitely try the eraser method before opening it up, it may very well fix it.


Edit - seemed to work much better overall. It only stopped working a couple times throughout the round instead of only working a couple times. I'll keep tinkering with it though, seems the issue is the contacts for sure.
