Diamana M+ 50 vs Kuro Kage Red 50

I went for a driver fitting at the Cool Clubs in Stamford, CT and was fit for a TItleist 915D 12 degree with Kuro Kage Red 50 shaft. I was hoping to try the M+ 50 that comes stock with the club, but they actually didn't stock it. Here is the email I wrote to Cool Clubs regarding my thoughts. We had to really work to get my spin rate up as my current Burner 2.0 TP 10.5 was falling out of the sky even though the launch angle was good.

 

How would you guys approach this situation, and should I consider cancelling the order with the Kuro Kage and just ordering direct with the M+ 50 even though I don't have a head to head comparison between the two. I have hit the M+ 50 at a Golf Galaxy simulator though.

 

I have a question regarding my 915 D2 order.

These specs are direct from Mitsubishi Rayon's website

 

 

I was fit for the

KURO KAGE™ Red 50 R 46.0 56 0.335 3 0.605 5.8 MID

I wanted to inquire about the Mitsubishi Diamana M+ Red 50 that comes stock with the club through Titliest. Tony said that some ot the stock shafts were "made for" and not the real deal, which I know was definitely true for the "made for BlueBoard that came with the 909 generation. But according to the Titleist rep and their website, these are the real deal Diamanas that now come stock with the 915s.

 

Diamana™ M+PLUS 50 R 46.0 51 0.335 0.614 6.3 MID

As you can see, there is a .5 increase in torque.

Tony said I hit the Diamana Red 50, which isn't that shaft, but is actually

R-Series 50 R 46.0 55 0.335 3.0 0.610 4.1 MID

As you can see, it features much less torque than the other two shafts.

Between the R-Series and the Kuro Kage, I agree with Tony that the Kuro Kage was the best fit, and was out of any shaft you had in stock.

I have demoed the M+ 50 and really liked the shaft, and was hoping that because it was a stock option, it would have been in your arsenal of shafts to try. We had to try to get spin up as I don't have the club head speed to spin the ball as much as most people and keep it airborne.

 

I get that I have committed to buying the Kuro Kage 50, and I'm not opposed to that. But because the M+ 50 comes stock with the 915 head, can I have the club ordered with that at 44.75 inches, and then you guys do your FLO/spining on the Kuro Kage? Because from what I understand, you don't order the club from Titleist with the Kuro Kage, you get the head and shaft separately and assemble it at Scottsdale. This in theory should be reasonable, because there is no upcharge for the M+ from Titleist and I'm being charged the full price for the 915 head. I just think given what Tony and I discussed, it would have been the one shaft I would have liked to go against the Kuro Kage, and it being a stock offering could have saved me $250.

Lower torque lessens the kickpoint and lowers launch and spin if I researched it correctly.
