Anyone subscribe to Golfworld Magazine?

Still on my "trial" subscription

As an avid golfer like the rest of my fellow WRXers, I already subscribe to Golf Magazine, Golf Digest, and the PGA Tour Player's Club magazine. However, my Golf Mag & Golf Digest come within one day of each other every month, so after about a week I'm done my golf reading for the month.

About a month ago, I got an offer in the mail to try Golfworld Magazine for 6 free issues. If I like it, the remainder of the year is just $21.97.

I got my first issue last week, with Boo Weekley on the cover. I was surprised by how thin the mag is, but after all it is a weekly. I read it cover to cover in a couple of days, and I liked it. Obviously it's different from GM or GD in that it's almost exclusively devoted to tournament coverage.

Today, I got the "Masters Preview" issue dated March 30th! Obviously it was lost in the mail, but it still looks like an interesting read.

Don't know what to think yet, but I should get my next issue on Weds. Any other Golfworld subcribers? Is it worth the money?

I take Golf World and have found it to more than acceptable in the long term. They sometimes don't have the coverage, or in enough depth, I would like to see.

 

The magazine for me provides a better insight not only into the pro tournaments but also the young men and women climbing their way to national prominence.

Golf World 1 year sub for $7.59 and 3 years for $11.39.

 

I have done well, with no problems, on several periodicals through there.

Golf World is a great weekly read, it is more in tune with the recent events than the other publications since it is a weekly magazine. Big D, there is also a monthly Philadelphia golf magazine that you can get for free from their website. It is more about the courses in the Philly area, but keeps you in tune with the local events.

^^You mean "Golfstyles Philadelphia"? That's one I subscribe to already. I'll check the Golfworld website though and see if there's a different one. Thanks for the heads up.

I actually like GolfWorld the best. Long ago I stopped reading Golf/GD, so when the local Girl Scouts were selling subscriptions I got GW on a pretty good deal. I think its great. Its a weekly so I'm glad that its not too too thick. I like that there are articles and information on all the tours since I follow the Euro PGA and LPGA as well. Plus, there are no (or virtually none) nonsense instructional articles. Great magazine IMO.

I am not sure of the cost, but I get it free (along with Golfworld) for being a member of a club that is affiliated with the Golf Association of Philadelphia.

I get just about every golf magazine - I can't get enough golf!

 

- Golf Digest

- Travel & Leisure Golf

- Golf Illustrated

- FG (Fairways & Greens)

- Golf Styles (the Ohio area edition - FREE!)

- I also get a few different U.K. golf magazines from time to time - Today's Golfer, Golf Punk, and Golf Monthly

- and I even get Golf For Women for my girlfriend Cate to read - tho I admit I do check it out each month too.

 

Worst thing is that I keep every issue! I have book case upon book case filled with not only golf books and videos, but golf magazines going back for years! My girlfriend, being the insanely organized person she is, went through them all awhile back and put them in order by date and now they are in nice "magazine containers" I guess you'd call them and at the end of each month or so, she'll file away those magazines as the new ones start coming in.

Golf World because it has Michael Johnson (equipment editor GW). Weekly equipment fix. Last week he finds out that VJ added a hybrid and pulled his 3 iron. In addition he pulled some special shaft he had in the 3 iron and stuck it in his hybrid.

 

Digest because it is Digest. Got to have it.

 

I used to like Golf Tips, till I found the interenet.

I have always like golfworld because like the other posters I got weekly updates on equiptment and all of that. Moreso that the monthy doses from GD and GM.

 

Plus it is an easy read and sometimes I cannot devote the time to a full hour of reading.

Yeah... I get GolfWorld and like it best for "actual" golf coverage. But... Since I watch most of the tournaments, I pretty much know whats going to be in it. IMHO, it is still the best mag for real golf. I get quite a few others, but don't quite meet the epic level of Mapleleaf14!
