Ferncroft Country Club

I'm still casting about for a golf home and am wondering if anybody has any experience with Ferncroft. Comments about the course/conditions, members, tournaments would all be welcome.

I believe you can count some past and present Bruins as members.

I played it today and once last week with a buddy who works there.... I enjoy the course a lot and it's in really nice shape right now. Greens were smooth but not as fast as I remember from a couple years ago. It's a fun layout with water hazards throughout the course. It's fairly short at under 6700 from the tips but there are a few good holes with some length including a par 4 that's almost 480. They are adding a big addition into the clubhouse right now as well! Not sure how many members there are or tourneys ect but it's deffinately worth checking out.

A 480 yard par 4? That's ridonkulous.

Just had a meeting with them today about memberships. I am 90% on pulling the trigger. Course looked awesome and will probably set up a time to play it next week. The members I have met are awesome. It sounds like they have some good tournaments and the facilities were nice, definitely not a suit and tie clubhouse which I prefer.

I used to work for the Greens Super Mike Cassidy, he is a good dude and really knows his stuff so I expect that course to be in top shape if he is given the budget.

I joined the other day and have already played a couple rounds. Course is in great shape, other members have been great. There is definitely a good amount of tournaments and money matches. Let me know if you want to play a round I can bring a guest.

No - I've been busy trying to squeeze all my money's worth out of GCNE.

The person in charge of recruitment has emailed me a few times and has offered for me to come play - I just haven't been able to take him up on it. I have a few family things going on now that probably push the timetable off for a year or two anyway.

I only played it once a few years back Chris and I hated it. I have some friends who were members and they all left there.

It's a Robt. Trent Jones design, which I typically don't like, anyway. Nothing personal against the WRX guys who said they were members, but the last time I was at Ferncroft, I was particularly put off by the personality of the membership.

I wouldn't join, without playing there a couple of times and spending some time in the Grill Room.

I played in a tourney at Fern a few years ago and enjoyed the course. I played well so that always helps. I liked the variety of shot selection it provides
