Ping MyDay

Can anyone tell me some history of the My Day Ping putter? Like why they decided to name it My Day? The more the better.

Got this one and a Taylormade TI Double Bubble II driver, Callaway BigBertha Steelhead Plus 7 Wood at a pawn shop for $12. 1st is a before pic of what the putter looked like minus the white strip (not mine, mine looked worse), second is after i cleaned up.

Seems to be a Ping Zing but with a plumbers neck. Couldn't find anything about the name...

Great looking putter. The My Day is a modified Zing or Zing 2 depending on the version. A Zing is bronze with the sightline on the top. A Zing 2 is stainless with the sightline on the flange. The Zing 2 is also a touch longer heel to toe.

The My Day just adds the plumbers neck to the Zing to give it the same toe hang as an Anser. That is why you have 2 versions of the My Day, the bronze with the line on the top and the stainless with the line on the flange. The Zing 5 lengthened the plumbers neck and moved it towards the sightline to face balance the putter.

The other Ping putter that swapped a flare neck for a plumbers neck was the Echo and My Echo.

If my memory is correct, Ping used the My Day name for this Zing cousin so that Ping could patent as many of their designs as possible. Karsten was coming up with every possible head shape with heel toe weighting and giving it a name so that he could patent it. Look at the list of classic ping putters. The model variety is amazing.

The biggest pro name to play the My Day shape was Brad Faxon. He was loyal to this shape but was signed to Titleist. Cameron was able to make one for Faxon when the My Day patent expired and named it the FaxDay. That is all I've got. Great find on a classic Ping putter.

The name my day came from Karsten's daughter. She was testing the prototype and made several putts in a row. She looked up grinning and said, "Wow, this must be my day." And that is how the name was created.
