U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN WEEK OFFERS SCHEDULE OF CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS

 

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (JUNE 21, 2007) -- One week from today, 156 of the best in women’s golf will enter the official field of the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Championship at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club.

 

More than 100,000 spectators are expected in attendance, assisted by more than 2,800 volunteers.

 

Tickets remain on sale for the championship; rates are $20 for practice round and $35 for championship rounds when purchased before Monday; tickets can also be purchased at the championship gate for $25 and $40, respectively.

 

The complete schedule of events has been set for championship week:

 

SUNDAY, JUNE 24

12 – 5 PM Merchandise Pavilion Preview Sale (Open to the Public, Free Parking)

 

Last chance to purchase event tickets at pre-championship rates

 

Site visits to the Pine Needles golf course during preview hours

 

MONDAY, JUNE 25

7:00 AM Practice Rounds begin on Pine Needles. Daily tee times will be posted inside the championship gates (Tickets on sale at gate for $25)

 

Cameras and autograph requests will be allowed during practice rounds only

 

4 PM Special Appearance by U.S. Women’s Open defending champion Annika Sorenstam in the Merchandise Pavilion, near the Main Entrance

 

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 26

Field of 156 reduced to 60 after rounds with lowest scores and ties for 60th place; any player within 10 strokes of the lead

 

SATURDAY, JUNE 30

3 PM Live television coverage on NBC (3 – 6 PM)

 

4 PM Rally with Sally for Bone Health: Special Appearance by Sally Field promoting Women’s Bone Health, Mid Pines (park at spectator parking and walk to Mid Pines directly from the championship gate)

 

SUNDAY, JULY 1

8:00 AM Championship Rounds conclude on Pine Needles. Pairings/Tee Times found at http://www.uswomensopen.com/scores (Tickets on sale at gate for $40)

 

3 PM Live television coverage on NBC (3 – 6 PM)

 

In case of playoff: USGA rules dictate a three-hole playoff take place immediately following conclusion of the fourth round. If a playoff results in a tie, play will immediately continue hole by hole until a champion is determined.

Directions to the

Championship: Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club is located in Southern Pines, N.C. on Midland Road. Directional signage will be located on U.S. 1 and U.S. 15-501 leading to spectator parking. Access to Midland Road will be limited throughout Championship week.

Spectator

Parking: Located at Camp Easter Road. Parking is complimentary throughout championship week. Spectators access the Main Championship Gate via walkway from spectator parking. Follow signs on major roadways

 

Ticket

Information: Tickets remain on sale: Pre-sale tickets continue through Sunday ($20 practice rounds, $35 championship rounds) via http://www. 2007uswomensopen.com

 

Starting Monday: Ticket sales at the Championship Main Gate only: $25 practice rounds, $40 championship rounds

 

All children 17 and under receive free admission with a ticketed adult (up to 10 children) and receive a free golf cap, lunch vouchers and front row seating on select holes

 

Active military and spouses receive complimentary admission with the purchase of another ticket (two for one) if purchased at the Main Gate. Must show military/dependent ID at time of purchase.

 

Food Vendors: Will be located throughout the Championship complex, offering beverages, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches and other light snack fare

 

Restricted Items: Cell phones, PDAs and other electronic devices will not be allowed into the championship gate.

 

Cameras will only be allowed on the Monday-Wednesday practice rounds only; all other camera/camera phone usage will be restricted during championship rounds

 

Handbags and storage bags must not exceed 8†by 8†by 8†throughout championship week

 

Chairs without arms will be admitted through the championship gate throughout the championship week.
