As anyone tested the New Garmin Fenix Chronos

On the garmin website you can read that the nix chronos can follow the golf stats.

Did anyone tried this watch ?

Too big/heavy and expensive for a golf watch IMHO. I cant wrap my head around paying that much for an essentially disposable commodity that will be obsolete in a few years. Well, sure, I guess iPhones are kinda similar, but I hate something that big and heavy on my wrist while golfing. Form factor of the X40 is much more appealing if you gotta wear it while playing. Fenix 3 sapphire seems like all the same features but 1/3 the price, no? To be fair though, no I haven't tried it, just my opinion on it when I saw the release info.

That's my opinion on all of the fenix models. I wish they'd offer a watch that wasn't so large with the fenix functionality.

Here is some discussion on the fenix 3 golf app. I believe they use the same OS and apps across their watches (could be wrong for the Chronos, not sure).

I am also looking for info on the new Chronos.. Sure, it's ridiculously expensive, but if it does the job very well, I could see splurging. But, it would have to do it well.. Uncompromising features to justify the uncompromising price. I like the idea of one watch to do it all, if it would allow me to get rid of my Fitbit, Garmin Approach G6, Apple Watch, and Garmin forerunner.

I think it could easily meet my requirments for hiking, biking, XC skiing, activity tracking, etc. But, what I've read about previous versions of the golf app make it sound limited - more like the vivoactive than the approach.

- Does the Chronos differ from other Fenix 3 versions, or is the software/app identical?

- How many courses can it keep in memory on the watch?

- does it have the full course library?

- any visuals? Shape of hole or green?

I really can't see a metal or leather band watch take the place of something like a forerunner. It would be so gross after good workouts. I love that I can just throw the forerunner under the faucet after a run.

I wouldn't even consider wearing a metal band watch for golf, but that is just me. I know a lot do.

I´m a proud owner of this watch (with the leather strap) since 1 1/2 week. I´ve just used it once for a quick round of golf. Worked as expected, but as I´m not used to gps equipment I was probably looking at distances just 2 times. But the remaining functions of this watch are great. There is no comparison to the smartwatches as its designed for sports but still comes with smartwach functionalities.

Yes, it´s expensive and most probably too expensive, but all other watches with similiar specs looks like gadgets. This one not.

Does the Chronos do GIR, FIR and number of putts?

Fenix 3, Sapphire and the HR do not unfortunately.

Nope, not possible. You can enter your score for each hole, but that´s all in regards to recording (next to stroke distance measurement and miles walked).

Looks like we get all the golf features this year with the Fenix 5x for $699.
