Burner tp

Currently playing a 425 TP with the Rombax 75 gram shaft. Looking for a little bit more forgiveness and would like to get a little lighter shaft that can be swung hard if needed. I was thinking Superquad TP with the 65 gram rombax but think I will try the Burner after hitting it at the range. I thought the 65 gram GD shaft was fairly good but maybe a tad soft. Anyone hit the TP rombax in this club? If so, what are your thoughts. Called TM and they claimed no upcharge but I think he was mistaken. Is the standard shaft and TP shaft the same? I thought the only difference was the head. Is the GD shaft anything special? Any chance its a pershing with burner graphics?

I demoed at Hotstix and went with the TP 9.5 in the RE-AX 65g stiff Fujikura Rombax shaft. Not sure if that's what I demoed or if it was the GD shaft but went with the Rombax. Upcharge was $65 according to Discount Dan's.

I love this combo. Plenty long and straight and can move either way no problem. I'm a 5 with a ss of 100-105.

Played 30+ years.Played a lot of drivers most recent of which,Exotic,905R,Superquad.Felt the Superquad lacks consistancy in both distance and accuracy.Although I never liked super light wt. shafts ,I took a leap of faith and got a Burner TP with stiff 50 gr. Reax shaft.Best driver I have played in quite awhile.Long and more accurate than its predesessors.Odd thing is I don,t notice the light wieght that much.The shaft to me is very stable and IS NOT the same shaft that is in the non TP Burner.It has more Rombax technology in it and lower tor.I would not dismiss this stock 50 gr. shaft without a demo.I have been really impressed.First driver in awhile that I can honestly see a consistant improvement in my driving.Best driver for me since the 983 K.My SS is 95-100.

In the 65 gram weight shaft. The 50 gram weight shaft is a Fujikura according to the TM website.

I tried the 50 gram shaft and did not like it. The overall weight felt way too light. I thought the 65 gram shaft felt good but thought that it might be a good idea to go with the 65 gram rombax.

My SS is also between 98 and 103 depending on how flexible I am that day. I know this from the launch monitor session I had been on for the last month.

Frankly, I find the 50g shaft, stiff in the Burner TP to be a great shaft. I know that there is a lot of very strong players out there and some on this site, but I find it hard to believe that anyone out there with SS around mine could not like this stock shaft!

It is a Fuji shaft made and engineered to fit this clubheard. I have not hit mine on the course yet, but after two sessions at the range, I am killing it!

I also echo the post that said... do not count out the 50g shaft. I think it is worth the try first.

I do hear what you are saying and I did try the 50gram shaft. Its just too light for me. I have a tendency to get too quick with my transition and that light shaft was just too light for me. I am not looking for that extra yardage you can get with that shaft and head. I want a long driver that is forgiving. I think the burner has both qualities....without that 50 gram shaft.

I ordered my TP w/the rombax w/TP graphics, stiff-65gram, tipped 1/2 inch. My swing speed is 106-110 and found this shaft to weak for my liking. Changed it out w/Rombax 6w06-x, tipped 1/2 and have a very solid combo.

If that's the case, then why are the specs listed for that shaft on TaylorMade's website so much different for the specs for the Pershing on Graphite Design's website?

I recently started a similar thread about the burner TP and it's awful shaft that cause the leftest bias. Last week, I found a 75 gram Pershing pull out and change the shaft. If the 65 gram shaft Taylormade puts in the club is the Pershing I am very surprised. The reshafted driver feels much more solid than the original shaft and I believe my pull hooks are gone! The 75g Pershing is a good low cost alternative to putting in a Rombax like was suggested to me. Only time will tell
