help with tournaments

OK guys i have a question to ask? do you have any tips for getting over your nerves on the first tee. im asking you this because i have my first one of the summer this thursday ( playing about 8 from today to mid augest). from recent tournaments i get this feeling in my stomach and i cant hit the ball. im fine when i play in HS matches when my team is there, but i have yet to hit a good drive on a opening hole for any tournaments that i have played in and its really hurting my game.

any help will be great

just go through your regular routine, and hit the shot you want to hit on the first tee during your warmup on the range.

Also theres no need to swing as hard as you can, though it may seem like it no one really cares that you didnt hit it that far, at least your in the fairway.

I hit driver on the first tee most of the time, mainly because i know at least ill be able to hit the face.

Hopefully you will get over it in time. I know I was similar when i was starting tournaments in HS but got over it afer a while. Hopefully you will, some never do.

well today i played in the tournament and i was happy with the results. i went through my routine adn hit a nice 260 draw right down the middle of the fairway. thanks for all the help.

P.S. i landed in a divot.

oops...sorry that probably didn't help.

go through your routine. focus on your target...put everything else out of your mind....your target only. like you're in a tunnel and everything outside of that tunnel between you and the target is blurry.

the rubbery legs should wear off after the first shot....maybe after your approach.

...if you birdie the first hole....and you're anything like me.......you're screwed. that's bad joo-joo.....so miss your birdie putt on purpose and take par.
