Best Golf Magazine: Golf Digest vs Golf Magazine vs Links Magazine

Hi Guys -

 

I am looking to subscribe to one of the golf magazines for the first time in years and I am wondering which one you think is the best and the differences. Was mainly considering Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, and Links Magazine. Mostly interested in travel and golf course articles, followed by equipment (though everything I am sure is old since we are getting all our info on here first). Golf instruction stuff is less important to me. What are your guys thoughts?

For Travel and Golf Courses, Links is very good. Back in the day I used to get Travel Golf and Leisure, but the went out of business. Links fits the bill very nicely. They also give you a bunch of online magazine type stuff.

 

You can supplement with Golf Digest On Line course stuff.

Over the years that I've played, I found a distinct difference in the two major mags, and that Links was for those people who can pay a gazillion dollars to travel to play the most exclusive clubs at the most exclusive resorts and buy the most expensive properties. It was big on ads for real estate and high end goods like Rolex, etc...

 

As for the other two, my feelings were:

 

Golf Magazine- focused more on instruction with the other by products like equipment and travel, tour news, etc... not as high on the list of coverage.

 

Golf Digest- Seemed to put more emphasis on equipment and travel. Yes, there was instruction but it took a back seat to these.

 

To be honest, I haven't even SEEN a GM or GD in years, and I've seen a few Links because my friend got a free subscription and keeps copies in his "library"

If you are in VA you get Golf Digest as part of your VSGA membership
