1960 Hogan Power Thrust

Recommended Posts

Thought I would finally upload some pictures of my 99% complete set of 1960 Hogan Power Thrusts for the Hogan fans on this site. I actually think it is one of the best looking blades ever produced and this includes the Precisions and Sabers which I rate a very close second. This set has been a bit of a challenge to put together and has pulled clubs from Minnesota, Georgia, South Carolina, Oregon and the United Kingdom. Clubs have not been reshafted onto a matching set of shafts as of yet so the lengths, and flexes are all over the place. Grips are also a hodge podge that will have to be addressed. Planning on either True Temper S300's or Apex 4's for the reshaft and then some lamkin full cords for the grips. Heads are in decent condition, but as you can see from the Utility Wedge they have seen some use over their 58 year life span. Enjoy and please keep me posted if a Sand Iron Forty Two pops up someplace!

Nice set there, NorthPlatte. I've got the '62 PT's and the '63 PTIII's. Of the two I prefer the latter, but it could be the shafts. I've often wondered how the '62's would play with some Apex 4 shafts. In fact, I did buy a set of Hogan GCD's just for the shafts to transplant to them. That was like 3 years ago, still haven't gotten around to it.

"Power Thrust" - as I said before, what a great name for a golf club. Especially in combination with "Rocket" shafts. :)

And if you play persimmon, you're my friend

Could not agree more on the name. Would love to keep the TT shafts in them, but they are only about 5 of the clubs in the set that have the same shaft. Hopefully will have a matched set of Apex 4's from a set of Hogan Edges that can be used for the 2-E and then will figure something out for the wedges.

Any suggestions on removing shafts from Hogan Edge clubs? I don't think they are pinned hosels, but I do see a small hole on the back of the hosel that I am not sure if that is used in any way to hold the club head on the shaft or what the purpose of that small hole is, or they are just held on with epoxy.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
