I played both courses at TPC Prestancia last week. Not sure what information you are looking for...so here goes with some things.... I you want others PM me and we can talk

The range is massive.... with targets, etc. Balls are set up in pyramid style. The putting green is nice, though a little small since there are two courses there. The chipping, bunker area again is rather small.

The staff, except for the Pro Shop staff, was very friendly and helpful. They have a starter shack and the guy in their was also considerate and helpful. The locker rooms were nicely appointed.

Both courses allow both carts AND walking.

On Monday I played The Players Course, which used to be Sarasota Country Club (IIRC). They had redone the greens last Fall and they were still very hard. The course was in good condition, with a nice variety of holes. The fairways were flat with no a lot of undulations... so you had mostly level lies.

On Tuesday I played The Stadium Course, which used to host Champion Tour events. So it was a little tougher, with a stronger design. The greens had a lot of undulation. Several risk reward holes. For example, Number 9 has a lake running down the entire left side of the fairway. Off the tee you can cut off some of the lake and shorten the hole. However, you can also try to cut off too much and hit it in the lake OR try to cut off too little and hit it through the fairway. We played the course in steady 17-25 mph winds, so this made it tougher also than the The Players course.

It looked like a very active club.

We are relocating to Sarasota, also, and I am looking at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club which has 3 courses, etc. etc. Not sure how the memberships compare. Since we will be living in Lakewood Ranch the commute will be 10 minutes versus 30. Hope you enjoy the relocation.

Thanks for the response. My wife will be the primary (young executive) so the cost is only $5K initiation, under $400/month with a $500/year FB. Also includes access to all other TPC courses.

How does this compare to other private courses in the Tampa/Sarasota area?

Thanks

that's comparable to all the other privates in here; we have high end like the vinoy that's 40k init or old memorial that's about 50k local and 100k national but most of the privates are in that end; privates are the way to go IMHO

the public scene gets too crowded for my taste; even in summers you can have 5 hours and winter comes is a death crawl with all the snowbirds. My own home club has 50% snowbirds out of the roughly 220 members; you can only imagine my delight after easter weekend. =P

that area you're looking at is PRIME golf and lots and lots of options as well and IMHO one of the most under rated golf spot in florida. You will love it.

and of course the rates are too good to be true. You're coming from California. =P

Anyone have any experience here? We are relocating from California and the fees seem too good to be true. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

Prema

Prestancia is a decent course, not near the level of the rest of the TPC courses you probably know. The players course is mostly unmemorable, Save for a par 5 early on the back that going for it in 2 requires a shot between trees over water.

The range is always grass and does Have targets, usually into the wind too which I like and NXT balls so at least it feels like a golf ball. I agree with others that the short game area is small and so is the practice green but these folks aren’t out grinding hours of putting so they’re not there for long.

The stadium course is decent. I like that they allow walking. It’s not terribly challenging however. Conditions are usually very good though.

Pro staff is friendly and the lockers are 80’s but everything is maintained well. A ca of beer on course is like 4$ but buying 6 is like 10$ which is cool.

Membership is pretty old. But it’s an area that’s hot for retirees so that’s bound to happen.

Other courses that may interest you in the area, the founders club, really nice course and clubhouse, walking all year, has caddies too, some mini tour pros play/practice there. Pro v1 range, 2 acre short game area and it’s really nice.

The Ritz Carlton members club, besides it being a meticulously maintained course, bigger name lpga and pga pros practice here, caddies available, walking allowed all year and membership gets you access to their beach club on lido key.

I’ve played prestancia a TON, it’s nice enough but the old retirees aren’t the most inviting, I’m not the member but I don’t see them saying good morning to my buddies that are.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
